Lesson Seven: Cultivate Boredom

So remember. Keep them entertained. Keep their attention. Keep them entranced. Keep them hypnotized with any form of entertainment possible until they finally come to believe that all there is in life is entertainment. Make them believe that life is one huge theme park with endless thrills and spills, or one endless television show. Convince them that life is non-stop entertainment, and furthermore, that they deserve to be entertained.

If a bit of reality or suffering finally jolts them awake they'll be so disappointed and angry that, with just a little push, they will tumble over into a nice pit of despair, and with another nudge you'll have them wallowing nicely in an immature soup of self pity, cynicism, and rage.

Time's up worms. Entertainment today. Sports tomorrow. Chapter Sixteen on Bread and Circuses for homework.
