The Story "Rolling Stone" Won't Tell

Jihadists adopt those tactics not because we're inhumane monsters but because they can count on our humanity to temper our actions. Consider this fact: despite the indescribable firepower at our disposal, it is the Taliban that inflict 75% of civilian casualties in Afghanistan. Despite our surge in combat operations, the percentage of civilians killed by Americans has been decreasing. Is that evidence of a culture where killing civilians is a "cause for celebration"?

Rolling Stone slanders our soldiers. And in slandering our soldiers, it slanders men who paid the ultimate price to protect innocent life far from home. Those sacrifices—their stories—are worth knowing far more than a venal crime committed by a tiny few and prosecuted by an honorable Army.
