"There's the Saint for Me!" St. Vincent de Paul

As the patron saint of charities, Vincent's name is attached to hospitals, orphanages, and schools worldwide. In statues, stained glass windows and prayer cards he appears, one biographer writes, "a benevolent old priest carrying an infant in the fold of his cloak and surrounded by ragged waifs clinging to him for dear life." But, as Father James Martin notes in My Life with the Saints, a saint is more than a statue. And there's always the danger of losing sight of the actual person and their relevance for us today.
