Evangelicalism In Search of a Soul

So what is the future of Evangelicalism in America? At this point, it's difficult to see two current realities changing much in the years ahead. First, traditionally held Christian beliefs and values will continue to be challenged and wrested from a position of cultural preference, and secondly, evangelicals will tend to prefer one of the two broad camps described above in responding to the first point. Having spent over thirty years working with called and committed younger leaders, I am hopeful that the abject failure of the anger and indignation approach to evangelical presence and mission has engendered a resolve to return to a gospel-centered mission of redemption and compassion. Perhaps the recovery of gospel-centered mission will help evangelicalism find its soul in the years ahead.
