A Desirable Future for Progressive Faith: Three Conversions Required

The third conversion incorporates the ecclesial and theological conversions into a missional conversion: from an "organized religion" to an "organizing religion." Rather than investing in poorly organized religion, or religion well organized for the wrong purposes (usually institutional comfort and privilege), progressive Christians must start organizing well for the right purposes (the common good and service, also known as the Kingdom of God).

This third conversion will be manifest as progressive Christians stop complaining about how their conservative counterparts are so well organized for bad purposes, and instead get organized themselves — for good purposes and with a good spirit. Such an organizing progressive Christian faith will be well-poised to collaborate with its Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jewish, and other neighbors, sharing in a vision of a future that arcs toward justice, joy, and peace.
