Ten Ways Congregations Can Engage with Social Media

9) Including

More than simply connecting and participating, the digital era provides the opportunity to include more voices and resources than ever before. We are no longer bound by our innate tribalism but are invited to include (and be included) in a truly global village. There is a karmic "pay it forward" built into the fabric of the internet, offering a "hat tip" (or HT) to the person who inspired you, connecting them with your circle that makes a Follow Friday (or #FF) on Twitter, or sharing social justice campaigns on Facebook.

10) Transcending

Because of the methods of engagement we can create something greater than the sum of our parts. We can transcend our initial ideas to discover common goals and shared experiences, and partner with allies to work toward peace and justice. The digital era is the transcendence of the physical, taking us beyond our flesh and blood, spreading internet memes, and awakening a global consciousness of the healing power of the human family.
