Our relationship with God is different from any other relationship in our lives. God doesn't just show up in ways that we can readily see, touch, or hear. Still, Christians long to grow in that relationship.
Spiritual formation is a lifelong process for believers to become more like Jesus. It involves a variety of disciplines and practices that help believers experience God more fully, including contemplative prayer, service, journaling, solitude, study, meditation, and spiritual direction.
Through contemplative prayer, the practitioner stills his or her thoughts and emotions and focuses on God. By quieting the thoughts, the practitioner can listen to God and experience unity with God.
