al-Husein N. Madhany

Al-Husein N. Madhany is a facilitator for diplomatic action.

Al-Husein currently works as an associate at InterCulture, Inc where he procures and manages strategic business, policy, and media communications partnerships that facilitate cutting-edge domestic and international diplomatic action. He was most recently the Executive Vice President of the One Nation Foundation based in Gig Harbor, Washington.

Since 2001, al-Husein has consulted domestically and internationally with the private and public sectors on philanthropy, civic engagement and community development. Previously, al-Husein taught at Georgetown University and worked as the Executive Director and Executive Editor of Islamica Magazine.

Al-Husein is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a 2012 Associate Fellow in the National Security Studies Program at the New America Foundation. Al-Husein was a 2011 Aspen Ideas Festival Scholar.

With a BA from Wake Forest and graduate degrees from Harvard, Georgetown and the University of Chicago, al-Husein is also a member of the Pacific Council on International Policy, a Senior Fellow at the Homeland Security Policy Institute at George Washington University and serves on the advisory board for the Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies at Stanford University.

Most recent publications include "New Media to Further Global Engagement," which was published immediately prior to the 17 December 2010 spark that ignited the Arab revolutions, by the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at Brookings and "Understanding the Role of Islam in Counterterrorism Policy," coauthored in 2008 with Rashad Hussain, currently White House Special Envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
