I have a notoriously sucky sense of direction. I still can’t help but point and laugh.
Family’s Corn Maze ‘Fun’ Ends In 911 Rescue
Couple Lost in Apple Orchard Calls 911
I wouldn’t recommend reading the comments on those stories; there are people blaming the incidents on Massachusetts’ liberal tendencies.
In his book Everyday Survival, Laurence Gonzales writes about a visit to Jockey Ridge State Park in North Carolina, a modest bit of sand dune-laden wilderness set on a spit roughly one mile long by three quarters of a mile wide. The park ranger there tells stories about people getting lost and calling for help within hearing distance of the highway. People have also stood on a high dune with a view of the Atlantic Ocean to the east and asked if the water to the west was the Pacific Ocean. The ranger also says people regularly ask him how far it is between the mile markers on the road.
I love this stuff.
LOL the fail of fall?
What’s funny about the corn maze is the wife called 911. Even lost in a corn maze in the dark we men don’t want to ask for directions.
a couple of years ago, three guys on bicycles claimed they’d gotten lost overnight in a wooded area of about 1 sq mile near the botanic garden north of chicago. iirc, it was a friday or saturday night.
at least that was the story they seemed to want their wives to buy.
Fearing for the safety of their 5-year-old and 3-week-old children, the couple, whose names were not released, used a cellphone to call 911 just after dusk on Tuesday night.
Why were they out like that with a 3-week-old baby?
amazing how many of the commenters to these stories turned their comments into attacks on President Obama! what morons! they don’t even know that these folks who got lost aren’t republicans……
