Came across this trailer for a movie coming April 4. I’ve heard NOTHING about it, but it looks like something I’ll want to see on the big screen.
Space Nazis? Ooh, baby, I’m on board.
I suppose now that the Russian Communists aren’t here to kick around any more…
I’ve seen previews of the film over the last few years. I didn’t realize it was finally ready to come out. It should be pretty fun.
From Wikipedia – “Iron Sky is one of a new wave of productions, including Artemis Eternal, The Cosmonaut, A Swarm of Angels and RiP!: A Remix Manifesto, produced in collaboration with an on-line community of film enthusiasts, that are creating a new kind of participatory cinema.” – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Sky#Production
It looks like a real shitkicker movie. I think I see it in a theater for the full effect.
Heck, a Nazi invasion from the moon is no more unlikely than a Sarah-Palinesque presidency. If we can suspend disbelief for one, the other should be easy enough!
Looks like lots of cheesy goodness!
Udo Kier! Udo Kier! Udo Kier! Udo Kier!
Not since Klaus Kinski has there been another actor who can render even the worst possible film instantly enjoyable.
Okay, this is too funny not to share.
I was poking around on the film’s official website (no link, because commercial sites set off spam filters), and they have a Google maps widget showing various locations around the world that have requested theatrical screenings when the film is released.
Apparently, there is a huge groundswell of interest in a movie about the grandchildren of unrepentant Nazi refugees taking over the world in … wait for it … Buenos Aires.
So, interest in the film is “alive and well, and living in Argentina.”
LOL… for anyone not aware of the Argentina Nazi connection:
Request map is at the bottom of http://www.ironsky.net/site – if you zoom in more, there’s smaller groups of requests all over the place!
I’ve heard quite a bit around this one in film circles (I am a filmmaker in Canada) – the reason you haven’t heard much about it is that it is a largely crowd-funded independent film and hasn’t had the studio machine behind it pumping out the trailers and such through the more mainstream and very expensive channels.
I hope they do well with their theatrical release!
Moon Nazi’s? fine.
Space Blimps? fine.
Gratuitous space battles? fine.
President Palin? I think thats a flight of fancy too far for me.
I have been waiting for years for this to get made. And now it premiers in Berlin TODAY. *fist pump*
