Anibal Sanchez pitches the only no hitter of the past two years after being acquired from the Red Sox in the deal where the Marlins looked to be just handing Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell away for nothing. Talk about crazy like foxes, those Marlins executives, huh?? What a story. Don’t pity the Red Sox though (well except for their first October out of the postseason since 2002) since they managed to get 5 draft picks before the Mets even got ONE this year with all the free agent compensation picks they managed. They managed to stay an extremely competitive team (at least ’til mid-August) while getting an enormous opportunity to restock their farm system.
