282. Rollins Band/Black Flag

Black Flag’s Damaged is some of the messiest screwiest punk around and one of Nirvana’s greatest ancestors and influences.  Rollins Band’s album Weight is filled with what amounts to cheesy inspirational rants for weight lifters.  I love ‘em both.  But there’s one song that ranks the work of Henry Rollins as high on the list as I have him.  It’s one of my top 100 favorite songs of all time.  The music, lyrics, and delivery are sheer brilliance and the soft/loud dynamics, as expressive of the song’s themes couldn’t be any better.  One of my true favorites, I give you, “Liar”:
