Camels With Hammers' New Banner!

FINALLY, Camels With Hammers has a real banner!

Camels With Hammers

The very talented Alexander D’Adamo, one of my former students, made it. Here’s his sketch of me drawn during class one day:

About Daniel Fincke

Dr. Daniel Fincke  has his PhD in philosophy from Fordham University and spent 11 years teaching in college classrooms. He wrote his dissertation on Ethics and the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche. On Camels With Hammers, the careful philosophy blog he writes for a popular audience, Dan argues for atheism and develops a humanistic ethical theory he calls “Empowerment Ethics”. Dan also teaches affordable, non-matriculated, video-conferencing philosophy classes on ethics, Nietzsche, historical philosophy, and philosophy for atheists that anyone around the world can sign up for. (You can learn more about Dan’s online classes here.) Dan is an APPA  (American Philosophical Practitioners Association) certified philosophical counselor who offers philosophical advice services to help people work through the philosophical aspects of their practical problems or to work out their views on philosophical issues. (You can read examples of Dan’s advice here.) Through his blogging, his online teaching, and his philosophical advice services each, Dan specializes in helping people who have recently left a religious tradition work out their constructive answers to questions of ethics, metaphysics, the meaning of life, etc. as part of their process of radical worldview change.

It looks fantastic! Though it reminds me of a question… I’m not quite sure what the name of this blog means. Is it a reference to something I should know, or is there some sort of story behind it?

  • Stevarious

    Nice banner!

…Any particular reason he decided to draw you as a hobo?

@MLR I was going to point you toward “Apostasy As A Religious Act (Or “Why A Camel Hammers The Idols Of Faith”)”, the post where Dan explains the name…. but the link there on the right is broken.

    • MLR

Broken link maters not thanks to google, I found the post by searching that title. Looks like quite a read! I better get to it. Thanks!

    • Camels With Hammers

Thanks, MLR, I hope you find it beneficial. It is the definitive explanation of the name of the site.

    • Camels With Hammers

Any particular reason he decided to draw you as a hobo?

Because I look like a hobo.

I love the new banner. Great job, Alexander D’Adamo!
