    The Pope is not considered an authority by most of the Christians in Rick Santorum’s camp. They’re as likely as not to refer to the Roman Catholic Church as the ”Great Whore of Babylon” – and I’m serious about that, I’ve heard them do it.

      Right, of course, but that’s part of the point. Santorum is a Catholic and supposedly believes in being strictly theological in politics and yet he betrays his own alleged Church doctrinarily all the time in politics!

    Great piece—good for Matthews, its not often that the talking heads get something right. I am glad he has the stones to call it what it is also—a theocracy.

    It’s okay, if Santorum disagrees with the Church then he surely has enough followers to start his own.
