Teens Are Having Sex?? Blame Planned Parenthood!!

An incendiary NSFW propaganda video from some folks who think that ignorance, abstinence, homophobia, and transphobia are the panaceas to all that ails our youth. (They also think that Planned Parenthood gives out contraception to increase STDs and abortions!)

I’m sorry, I couldn’t get much farther than “vagina costume”. This video is unintentionally funny at its best, horrific at its….everything else.

That is truly sick. I don’t understand why these right-wing fundie groups are so obsessed with controlling the sex lives of everyone else. Do they get off on it? Why is what people do privately any of their business? Just crazy.

Most Christian churches are strongly anti-sex. The dogma comes from parts of the Old Testament and from Paul, both of which are strongly anti-humanistic. If you’re having a good time, then you’re not thinking about how Jesus loves you and wants you to burn in Hell for eternity for having immoral thoughts.

Having been a teenager once, I can say with assurance that teens are hard-wired to be hooked on sex.

It’s part of the war on atheists. Only atheists can have guilt free sex, and believing in gods, deny on the right to have guilt free sex, so this is why they are against it.

    That was painful.

It’s pretty clear they’re making a lot of assumptions in there, such as masturbation being bad, before tossing in all the deliberate distortions of PP activity.

Once they get to high school – you know, right about the time that they hit puberty…

    LOLWUT?

OMG! They might be exposed to a Volkswagen Bug painted in rainbow colors! Run for the hills!

Unbelievable. So much distortion and backward thinking. Kids will engage in sexual behaviours, whether it’s masturbation or sex. The amount of shame that’s loaded into sexual activities makes it so much harder for kids to ask for information when they need it. That’s what leads to STDs, not having birth control available. The thought process they’re espousing in the video is completely reversed. It’s at one stroke both naive and paternalistic.

When I was a kid, I had questions. Tried asking my mother, but she freaked out. Now, being the nerdy, bookish type, I took my concerns to the public library and did some reading, which more or less answered my questions and made it apparent to me that I wasn’t up for sexual relationships just yet. I am smart enough to recognize this is not how most kids go about seeking information. I remember having a conversation with one of my classmates who got pregnant in high school and discovering that I had more facts at my disposal than she did, poor kid. And sometimes you have to be presented with some information before you can even articulate the questions you need to ask.

I have a 14 year old daughter and an 11 year old daughter. We’ve always been frank, open and relaxed about body talk. If they were old enough to ask, they were old enough for answers. We even used a book that was much like the one in the video to explain how sex worked and how babies were made. They know what abortion is and why it’s important to have that choice. Their grandmothers are both critical of how much information we’ve given them, but I think it’s important that they absorb and normalize the information early.

My big girl is in high school and shows no inclination to have a boyfriend or be in a sexual relationship. She’s a “late bloomer”, and I have to say I’m relieved (more because of the emotional end of it, teen drama sucks). But if at any point she did decide to experiment sexually, I’m a lot more comfortable knowing that she’s going to be a lot safer than she would be in ignorance.

I don’t understand these groups who want to prevent kids from having the information they need to survive. And it does in the case of some STDs come down to survival. If parents can’t educate their kids in the matter of sex because of all the hangups our culture is so fraught with, we need groups like PP to fill the gap.

LOL -thanks for the link I’ll use it as warm up entertainment before party.
He seems to be worried, yet all his examples are utterly harmless! Didn’t anybody tell this boy that most teenagers watch hardcore porn on the internet?
One thing that strikes me: could the boy speaking still be a virgin? (he looks like one of the kids whos been forced by parents or local church to promise not to have sex before marrige…).
I sure hope no american taxpayers money is wasted on American Life League!

Alter the narrator’s tone of voice, change about 6 words, and you have a good promotion of PP.

If I were to parody this, I would just add dramatic music. I don’t know what else I would change.

Honestly? It’s really very hard to take this seriously – it’s so over the top. I’m not doubting it was made as a genuine video rather than a spoof, but anyone who makes it is so outside the mainstream. Most of the Christians I know (including ones who think abortion is a serious sin and that sex needs to wait until marriage) would be quick to label this as a “ur doing it rong” way of advocating for their position.
