(You can learn more about Dan’s online classes here.) Dan is an APPA  (American Philosophical Practitioners Association) certified philosophical counselor who offers philosophical advice services to help people work through the philosophical aspects of their practical problems or to work out their views on philosophical issues. (You can read examples of Dan’s advice here.) Through his blogging, his online teaching, and his philosophical advice services each, Dan specializes in helping people who have recently left a religious tradition work out their constructive answers to questions of ethics, metaphysics, the meaning of life, etc. as part of their process of radical worldview change.

That seemed rather hedgy and non-committal to me, but then I’m Canadian.

Perhaps I’m being too cynical here, but it’s an election year south of the border, Obama’s mostly a conservative (Republican nightmares being the fever dream that they are) who either doesn’t believe in real equality or isn’t quite comfortable enough with how accepted marriage equality is in the polls, so he sends Biden out to appease the liberal base who haven’t been happy with just how far to the right Obama has been. They had hope they could believe in, now the ticket needs to give them hope that the other ticket is that much worse.

And the White House is already backtracking. They support “equal rights for couples” but not marriage.

Ahh good old “separate but equal”. Fitting for Obama to champion this cherished national ideal.

What a surprise…Obama’s failure to take on this issue is one of the biggest disappointments of his tenure in my opinion. I am not at all surprised to see them slowly backing away from Biden’s comments…
