I Saw Neko Case Last Night! And Her New Songs Are Great. Listen:

I got to see Neko Case for free last night at an event sponsored by Pandora and T-Mobile. She was great (as always). Now I’ve seen her both with the New Pornographers and without, so that’s great. She said it was her first time performing the songs from the new album before an audience of “more than 6 people”, but you wouldn’t have known that. They totally killed on the new single “I’m A Man” like it was one of the mainstays of the setlist for years. It was a worthy way to climax the (pre-encore) set. The only song that trumped it in the set for me was “This Tornado Loves You”, which I have always loved but came to hear in a whole new exciting light with her passionate performance last night.

I have listened through to the whole new album, The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You [Limited Deluxe Edition] and it hooked me in one listen. It’s really great, completely up to her consistently high standards. One jarringly poignant and instantly memorable album cut was Nearly Midnight, Honolulu:
