2014’s Song of the Year (to me)

Each of the last few years there’s one song that sort of dominates my mind for the year and becomes inextricably linked in my mind to the year it comes from.

In 2014 that song was “Arrow” by Kacey Musgraves:

I featured the song in one of my favorite posts of my writing this year, How My Personal Sexual Evolution Makes Me Loathe Slut Shaming and Victim Blaming.

The only two other songs that I played as often as this one were “Let it Go” and Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off”. So, yeah, that makes total sense. In my heart I’m a “Shake it off, let it go, and follow your arrow wherever it points” kind of person. And I’m also an “every broken heart in the world still beats, so let’s not make it harder than it has to be” kind of person too, come to think of it.

I know it came out in late 2013, but oh well.
