Yes, women are the weaker sex

Yes, women are the weaker sex August 19, 2016

Michael Flynn can rest at ease.  In this post, he expressed concern that Transgenders could upset the sports world by men simply donning a skirt, and then competing in women’s sports.

We’ve walked this tight rope for decades.  On one hand, women can do anything a man can do.  If you think otherwise, you’re a sexist.  Hence women in front line combat.   And yet, we still assume that women can’t do anything a man can do, because women are weaker and slower, hence our aversion to men hitting women.  If they were both capable of the same, why would we care?  As usual, you have the splendid ability of modern feminism to insist on absolute equality whenever convenient for women, which tends to follow on the heals of the progressive ability to insist that was yesterday’s truth until tomorrow.

And yet, the whole ‘is a man really stronger and faster than a woman’ remained a sort of unspoken question.  If you tried to suggest that men are simply, on the whole, more physically capable than women you would be shown cases where women finally accomplished what men did on men’s terms, or even presented a fictional, fantasy show that reminds us if we wait long enough, it will happen.  So it seems that women and men can ultimately be the same, right?

Once again we have the Transgender issue swinging in and hitting the sides of the feminist movement the way the Joker’s semi takes out an armored car in The Dark Knight.  We’ve already noticed a certain disregard for women’s concerns and sensitivities in the wake of Transgender rights that swept across our nation this year.  We’ve marveled at the almost contempt shown to women who are somewhat bothered by the idea they might have to share bathrooms or public showers with men.

And now it turns out that transgender athletes don’t pose a threat to women athletes after all.  Why?   It looks like women and men are different.  You see, once they turn to science and technology to make those important hormone changes, the hormones kick into their feminine levels.  That is, they become slower, weaker, and less durable:

“Together these changes lead to a loss of speed, strength and endurance — all key components of athleticism … After a year of hormone therapy, for example, female trans distance runners completely lose their speed advantage over cisgender women.”

So all is right with the world.  Once we use science to make the appropriate changes, things revert to their natural levels where women are inherently slower, weaker and have less endurance than men!  Women are the weaker sex after all.  We have the latest science to back up the phrase.  At least until the Olympics are over.  What it will be next week?  I don’t think we can know, if we even care.  This is post-modernism.  Post-moderns don’t sweat little things like that. If it’s convenient for women and men to be different to show transgender can do no harm, then different they are.  If the differences are the result of patriarchal societies and misogynistic oppression, then the same they can be.  We look for what is convenient for affirming our preferences of the moment, not for the discovery of actual truths.
