Victory! Ohio school will stop using local church for school functions

I am very happy about this news today!

You may recently remember that I was recently working with the Freedom From Religion Foundation to stop an Ohio elementary school from using a local church for his award and graduation ceremonies.

The school originally ignored the request by FFRF and carried out the ceremonies in May at the church. However, they did finally respond to the request and said in their letter to FFRF that they will identify “a different venue for the awards ceremony in future years.”

This is a great victory for the children and families of Covedale Elementary. The parent who brought this to my attention is likely not the only atheist or non-Christian in the community and thanks for the combined efforts in secular activism they will no longer have to sit through a ceremony in a church that blatantly promotes the Christian faith.
