The CEO and the CFO of the Democratic National Committee have both resigned Tuesday in the wake of the Wikileaks scandal that rocked the DNC days before the national convention.
CEO Amy Dacey, and CFO Brad Marshall, along with Communications Director Luis Miranda, have all announced their resignation from the DNC Tuesday morning.Readers of this blog will remember Dacey and Marshall played key roles in the plan to out Bernie Sanders as an atheist before two major primary elections, believing that if did they could help secure those wins for Hillary Clinton.
The plan, which never came to fruition, has been seen as incredibly disparaging to the atheist community as a whole. One’s religious beliefs should not be used as tools to destroy a presidential campaign. It is likely fair to say that atheists are likely Democrats, or left leaning, and discovering that their beliefs are considered bad enough to be used to destroy a campaign certainly changed the way some atheists viewed the party.
Clinton spoke out against the plan, but the damage to the DNC had already been done. The email leak pointed to a much larger scandal by officials in an effort to secure Clinton the nomination.
I personally welcome the resignation of all party leaders involved.
