About the Author

Welcome! If you’ve come across this website and want to know more about who’s behind it, then you’re in the right place. My name is Adam Lee, but I usually write under the pen name Ebonmuse (a throwback to my original website). I’m the author and proprietor of Daylight Atheism, and all the posts you’ll find here are written by me, unless noted otherwise.

I’m in my early thirties, white, male, a software engineer living and working in New York City. I don’t claim any formal degree in science, philosophy, or any of the other topics I often write about; I am, I confess, just an interested amateur, though I like to think I’ve read enough on these subjects to be able to speak knowledgeably about them.

I’ve been an atheist since my first year of college, for reasons I’ve written about previously. I founded my first website, Ebon Musings, to write down the reasons that had led me to that conclusion – both because it was a useful way of getting them clear in my own mind, and because I hoped it might serve as a resource that would be helpful to other people who were grappling with the same questions that I was. As time went by, I found myself with more and more of a desire to discuss stories in the news, to analyze current events through the lens of the humanist philosophy I had developed. In February 2006, I founded Daylight Atheism to advance that goal – and that, of course, is why you’re here.

In the several years I’ve been writing for this website, I’ve had a few especially memorable experiences:

This blog is my soapbox where I write about anything and everything that’s on my mind – but I don’t usually write about my personal life, mainly because I just don’t think it’s very interesting. I do write about atheism, positive humanism, science and skepticism, rational spirituality, politics, the media, and religious dogma in all its countless manifestations. If any of this sounds interesting to you, then I invite you to stay and join the conversation here on Daylight Atheism – we’ve got a friendly and diverse community of commenters, and I always welcome new voices among them.

If you need to get in touch with me personally, feel free to send me an e-mail. I read all the e-mail I get and respond to most of it, and I do my best to answer feedback comments left on the blog as well. Now that you know about me, I’d like to get to know you. Hope to see you around!
