The Bryan Fischer award is given to those who engage in weapons-grade projection, accusing one’s opponents of their own worst attributes. Here is a classic example from House Speaker John Boehner:
“This is a president who said I’m not going to be a divider, I’m going to be a uniter, and running on the politics of division and envy is – to me it’s almost un-American,” said Boehner.
Seriously? A Republican leader is complaining about the politics of division? His party’s entire argument for why you should elect them is based on exploiting every division imaginable — religion, gender, sexuality, race. They spend all their time telling people that if it just wasn’t for a laundry list of minorities — gay people, immigrants, welfare queens — their lives would be so much better. It’s the very core of their primary political messages. Staggering hypocrisy.
