Wingnut on Wingnut Crime: Malkin vs Coulter

Oh, it’s on now. The two queen bees of conservatism, Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin, are going at one another — and fighting over Sarah Palin. Coulter went on TV recently and took what some are calling a swipe at Palin by saying that if the Republicans nominated a “novelty candidate” as vice president, it will remind people of Palin. And Malkin is hopping mad about it:

“‘Novelty candidate’ means an outside-the-Beltway, outside-the-establishment public servant who speaks from the heart, lives political and personal life on her own terms, and embodies all that Coulter’s best Hollywood friends like misogynist Bill Maher hate,” Malkin wrote on Monday. “Sometimes, the war on conservative women isn’t just being waged by the Left. This is a form of political fragging. Shame.” …

“She is questioning the sincerity of countless conservative women across the country who are sick and tired of being smeared by liberal cowards hiding behind the humor card,” Malkin wrote in an email. “Her most recent statements call into question her past praise for Palin and her past participation in a documentary that explicitly takes on liberal hate of conservative women. Opportunism? Schtick? I know I am not the only one questioning her. I’m just one of the few willing to question her out loud.”

being smeared by liberal cowards hiding behind the humor card

This stuck out as a recognition that Stewart and Colbert are very successful at nailing the conservatives for being themselves.

I thought it was ‘comedy helmet’ not ‘humor card’…

    Michelle Malkin:

[Ann Coulter] is questioning the sincerity of countless conservative women across the country who are sick and tired of being smeared by liberal cowards hiding behind the humor card . . .

Actually that describes Rush Limbaugh. Messers Maher and Stewart don’t have to ‘cowardly’ retreat behind a humor defense because they aren’t lying and therefore don’t have a need to avoid defending their claims. So I’d argue this is Malkin once again projecting her movements’ own defects unto an undeserving other.

  • You have to remember something about Michelle Malkin, she is Sarah Palin!

  • StevoR

    (Readies popcorn & beer.)

Anne Coulter is apparently a Deep Cover Liberal & has been backing Mittens for a while now from what I gather, suspect she’ll come out on top.

Really though there’s not much to do but stand back and laugh at this Willfully Stoopid duo hurting their own supposed side yet again.

‘Tis the (political) season for that really and has been since the Republican nomination freakshow began really.

    @4. tommykey :

Gee, it’s unfortunate for all those women there who share that now rather notorious and embarrassing Sara Palin name isn’t it?

Now I think of it, there’s probably a few women named Sarah Palin out there – who previously could have had the cachet of being phonetically connected to one of the Monty Python gang but now have rather less tasteful sonic associations.

    Re StevoR @ #5

The difference between Malkin and Coulter is that the former believes everything she says and the latter doesn’t.

  • Who Knows?

tomkey @ 4, they missed the point. Anyone can be a good mother and be involved with politics. Hell, you can be a mother and hold any office you like. You just can’t be uninformed and unteachable and be next in line for the presidency.

    “Humor card”?

  • uncephalized

    “Novelty Candidate” LOL.

Sometimes Ann Coulter really nails it, the hateful bitch…

  • “She is questioning the sincerity of countless conservative women …

More like the sanity of countless conservative women … which, in Malkin’s case, is perfectly understandable.

Oh if she, Palin, had only been dumb in the can’t speak sense.

Sometimes, the war on conservative women…

Conservative women is a subset of women. Republicans have been warring against women for a few years now. Nice to see Malkin admit it.

    Actually that describes Rush Limbaugh.

Even more ironically, it describes Coulter too. I might almost believe that Malkin intended it at least partly as a swipe at Coulter, but I doubt Malkin’s subtle enough for that.

  • Sarah Palin’s become quite a useful litmus test of the sanity of a person’s political opinions. There have been a couple of occasions recently when I’ve tuned into some random talk radio station and listened to whoever it is on at the time (not one of the well known blowhards) thinking, “I don’t agree with everything, but there might be a modicum of sense to what they’re saying.”

Then they go and say something like “Now, Sarah Palin, she would have made a great president” and then I know that whatever else this guy is spouting, it’s likely to be worthless.

  • Malkin is hopping mad

That appears to be Michelle’s default state.

To paraphrase Garland Greene from ConAir:

“Now she’s so angry moments of levity actually cause her pain; gives her headaches. Happiness, for that lady, hurts. “

Malkin should have just stopped before she called the Quitter from Wasilla a “public servant”. Does she seriously not realize that the professional tweeter is all about the Benjamins?

Has anyone seen Rich Lowry lately? I’ll bet the starburst quotient on that is off the scale.

  • I wonder if Malkin realises many of the “conservative” women she claims to be defending would throw her under the bus without much provocation. That probably includes Palin.

  • Michael Heath

    carlsonjok writes:

Mr. Lowry has been busy claiming that National Review’s brand of racism is not equivalent to the overt racism on display in a recent non-NRO article written by one of their own, John Derbyshire. Derbyshire was fired by Lowry for that article.

  • slc1

    Re Michael Heath @ #21

Derbyshire joins Ann Coulter in being fired by Mr. Lowry. Coulter responded to her firing by calling Lowry a girly boy.

    Humour card, I choose you!

It’s like one of those card-based kid’s games like Magjikck or Pokey Mon. There’s probably an animated show based on it.
