Birth Control Turns Men Gay

I’d never heard of a group called ComeUnity in Truth, which appears to be hyper-Catholic. But my friend Todd Heywood put one of their Youtube videos on his Facebook page and, holy shit, are they nuts. In this video, they actually claim that taking hormonal birth control makes women unattractive to men and turn them gay. No, I’m not kidding.

A group called “ComeUnity” that specializes in removing the barriers between men and women having sex?

    For realzez?

    I can’t stop laughing…

  • freetheworldof

Surprise surprise, the YT vid has ‘Comment Pending Approval’.

  • StevoR

If true* , would be good news for the overpopulation crisis humanity has.

Y’know our numbers bein’ what in any other species would be considered plague proportions.

Has nobody read Haldeman’s ‘The Forever War’ for fucks sake?!

    * Which o’course it ain’t. More’za pity.

  • Captain Mike

“We’re Contracepting Ourselves out of Existence”

Yeah, there’s a real big people shortage.

“1900 Years of Christian Tradition condemned contraception as SINFUL”

It sure did, and it was full of shit the whole time.

  • StevoR

    Really. That whole fuckin video.

    Um, really?

There are people who will seriously say this shit?

    Perhaps shouldn’t surprise me.

    Still does.

  • It’s apparently a campaign of a relatively new order of nuns called “Children of Mary.” They seem to be … how to put it? … a little out of step:

    From the youth of America

    A Call to

    The Modesty Revolution!

In 1917, Our Lady of Fatima warned of the current times saying, “Certain fashions will be introduced that will offend Our Lord very much.” and that “more souls go to hell for sins of the flesh than for any other reason.”

What offends our Lord, should offend us as well!

It is time to take a stand and redefine the fashion trends!

Let us keep “veiled” what is sacred to respect the dignity of our bodies and to prevent the temptations of our brothers and sisters.

“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:1-2)

  • Jezebel covered this. Remarkably, they were snarky. I know!

  • Poggio

All of this anti-contraception nonsense coming out of white christians is nothing more than a thinly-veiled racial fear of the ‘brown masses’. All of these ludicrous messages are aimed to stoke the fear of the white racial minority which is guaranteed to happen this century. The effect of this racial demographic shift is not yet completely felt, because the traditional white majority still holds the reins of power in much of the country, but I can guarantee you that once the deleterious effects of minority status become a social and political reality for whites, racist white christians are going to lose their fucking minds.

“ComeUnity in Truth”? Sounds like a circle-jerk to me.

Well someone was gonna go there…

  • From the hed I thought they were claiming that men had been taking the pill and …. (at least they wouldn’t get pregnant: Boom! Boom!!)

  • busterggi

Nope, if the local anesthetic that condoms induce hasn’t changed my sexual orientation then neither will the pill.

  • Taz

The video claims that fertile women are more attractive because they give off pheromones, and that studies show men are more attracted to average fertile women than super-models. I want to know the logistics of that study.

“Attention Super-Models. We need your help. Are you willing to be sniffed for science?”

  • DaveL

From the hed I thought they were claiming that men had been taking the pill

    That’s what I thought, too.

  • tbp1

In my experience, knowing that a woman is on birth control makes her considerably MORE attractive to most guys.

  • iknklast

tbp1 – don’t you know that men just LOVE the idea that they might be saddled with child support in the near future? C’mon, they WANT to put all that money into raising a kid they didn’t plan on, rather than going to college or buying a new sports car.

  • No One
  • Poggio, how are we going to know when these white Christians lose their fucking minds? They seem to be doing a quite believable imitation of such already.

  • Oh, cripes. They trot out that stupid ‘everyone could fit in Texas’ bit? I shredded that crap over a decade ago, when the Interweb was young.

  • baal

We could lose more than half the world population and we’d be at 1960’s level of people. This isn’t necessarily a problem (unless your economic model assumes every growing populations).

The idiocy was funny for a few minutes but the vid became seriously obnoxious as the presenter just kept going on with lie after misinformation after dun slipped down the entire slope arguments.

Also, holy bad relationships batman. I can’t imagine living as this group wants. It’d be hellish to not engage in physical activity for fun with my wife and I imagine not all that good for our relationship.

“If someone you know is contracepting, tell them to stop. It will destroy them.”<—the closing line is at least consistent with the horrific world view of these people.

  • escuerd

    Ray Ingles @18,

Ugh, I’m glad you had the patience to thoroughly answer such a stupid argument.

I knew someone who mentioned having had a professor (can’t recall of what, exactly, but it sure as hell wasn’t anything in the sciences) in college who made the same argument (only giving people a few square feet to stand on), and mentioned that they’d all fit in three East Texas counties. She seemed to find it a convincing argument that we didn’t have an overpopulation problem.

As if standing room is the only limit on the world’s carrying capacity. I think I’m going to start using people who make this argument as a food source.*

*No, not really. After all, there’s the off chance that they’re only making this argument because they’re the victim of some horrific brain-wasting prion disease. Oh, and human rights and such. 😉

I didn’t think there was any way to go but up and then she started to talk about monkeys while showing photos of chimpanzees.

  • lofgren

tbp1 – don’t you know that men just LOVE the idea that they might be saddled with child support in the near future?

Child support is utter bullshit. If that slut didn’t want to get pregnant, she shouldn’t have let me have sex with her in the first place. If she’d had made me take it from her instead of wantonly opening throwing her legs open, her body would have shut that whole thing down.

  • jeroenmetselaar

Turning all man around you gay would be a very effective method of birth control for a woman.

  • whheydt

    Re: StevoR (@#3)…

I generally recommend that people read Heinlein’s Starship Troopers for the World War II generation perspective and follow with Haldeman’s Forever War for the Viet Nam War generation response.

  • Uncle Glenny

Well, you have to give them credit for successfully conflating and hitting on all sorts of topics:

    – Chemicals in the water supply, therefore other people contraceptin’ might affect you so the contraceptin’ chemicals shouldn’t be allowed for anyone

    – blurred boundaries of source of homosexuality

    – the usual slippery slopes (bestiality, pedophilia) for gay men, plus the crazy statistic about gay men’s promiscuity, which I’m pretty sure was from the discredited Paul Cameron, not Kinsey as claimed

    – “babies” vs zygote/blastocyst, non-implantation is murder

    – side effects without regard to risk versus pregnancy

    – I found it rather special that contraception was a more significant sin than incest

The one argument I haven’t seen trotted out was one given to a (lesbian) friend of mine by her mother: “Your acne will go away once you get pregnant.”

    * Loose fitting

    * High neck line (not lower than two fingers below collar bone)

    * Sleeves

    * Loose fitting

    * Long (at least below the knee)

But I don’t have any tops that meet the code, and I look simply dreadful in skirts.

What’s that? It’s only for women? We guys can dress as slutty as we wanna be? Hurrah for the old double standard!

  • criticaldragon1177

    Ed Brayton,

This video is worthy of an epic facepalm compilation.

  • criticaldragon1177
  • Chemicals in the water supply, therefore other people contraceptin’ might affect you so the contraceptin’ chemicals shouldn’t be allowed for anyone

Which is potentially a valid point. However, if this was true (and I won’t take this group’s word for it) the solution would be to invent better contraceptives that don’t have such effects.
