Starnes Throws Fit About Sex Talk at University

Todd Starnes seems to bear a striking resemblance to the Church Lady from Saturday Night Live, as he is perpetually clutching his pearls in response to some outrage. The latest freakout is over an event at the University of Tennessee that will feature a lesbian bondage expert and a week of talk about sex.

A lesbian bondage expert and a campus-wide condom scavenger hunt are among the activities planned for The University of Tennessee’s first-ever “Sex Week” – an event paid for by university money and student fees.

Sex Week is sponsored by the university’s Sexual Empowerment and Awareness at Tennessee club. The six-day event is expected to cost nearly $20,000 – covered in part by university grants, student fees and contributions from academic departments.

University of Tennessee spokeswoman Karen Simpson confirmed to Fox News that the conference is being funded by student fees and university money.

*yawn* And? Universities offer funding to every type of student club to bring in speakers and host events. In a few weeks I’ll be speaking at a secularism event at Louisiana State University, partially funded by the university. Christian clubs host similar events all the time, also partially funded by student activity fees. But ZOMG, sex and lesbians and bondage — the perfect recipe to give Todd Starnes a case of the vapors.

What? How could anyone not like lesbians and bondage!?

  • Wow, that’s a big condom.

  • Wow, that’s a big condom.

Can’t be much of a hunt for it.

If he finds talking about sex so shocking how do you think he’d take the news that some students are actually doing it?

  • Lesbian bondage? I live in Denver. Where can I get tickets?

But that problem is easy to avoid – the expert only needs to get an online ordination from the Universal Life Church, then they can advertise the same event as “A minister will speak about disciplining women”. And it should be A-OK with Todd Starnes immediately.

My university had/has a pro-LGBT crossdresser dance every year, funded in part by the school. In Oklahoma. I’ll admit it’s not as shocking as lesbian bondage, but come on, Oklahoma.

Did the plucky Volunteers bring in the same lesbondage specialists known for edifying those young GOP staffers whose California celebration almost exactly three years ago caused such expense & consternation to Michael Steele and his Republican National Committee?

A February RNC trip to California, for example, included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent [update: the amount is actually $1,946.25] at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.

    Wow, that’s a big condom.

I hope that you were channeling

Ernie Hudson, cuz that’s how I heard it.

“Let’s say the normal amount of Starnes pearl clutching is the size of this condom….”

UT student Brianna Rader, one of the founders of Sex Week, told Fox News that Sexsmith will not be engaging in lesbian bondage demonstrations during her appearance.

“She’s doing a workshop on poetry about sexuality,” Rader said. “She’s also going to be talking about constructing and reconstructing gender roles in society.”

Dammit. Typical liberal college crap! 😉

… some students are actually doing it?

What? What? I seem to have missed out a lot during my University student days.

    And nights.
