Bachmann: The 37th Time is the Charm

The U.S. House of Representatives have now voted 37 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act, not one of which has had the slightest effect at all. But Rep. Michele Bachmann has faith that God is going to answer their prayers and bring a miracle to make Obama repudiate his own law.

That’s why you saw the House of Representatives pass my bill, the full repeal of Obamacare last week, and that’s why I have renewed confidence that we can see this bill pass in the Senate and I think the President will ultimately be forced to repudiate his own signature piece of legislation because the American people will demand it.

And I think before his second term is over, we’re going to see a miracle before our eyes, I believe God is going to answer our prayers and we’ll be freed from the yoke of Obamacare. I believe that’s going to happen and we saw step one last week with the repeal of Obamacare in the House. We have two more steps. We serve a mighty God and I believe it can happen.

So the other 36 times, all of which were undoubtedly accompanied by millions of prayers, why didn’t God answer those times? Is he like a petulant child that you have to tell 85 times to clean his room before he does it?

More like Bachmann is a petulant child who thinks that by demanding something 37 times that she’s going to get what she wants.

But 37 is a prime number! Surely that counts for something. Or maybe she thinks that, after the Senate passes it, the White House will lose track of the bill and the president won’t veto it in time.

  • Your last line reminds me of my favorite definition of one million, from a kid replying to a homework assignment to come up with one: one million is your mother telling you to clean up your room 274 times a day, every day, for TEN YEARS.

I wish someone would ask her about how all this plays into “free will.”

My guess is that it boils down to “free will” being for people — you know, like her. Everyone else isn’t real and thus just part of the scenery to be moved about the stage for her convenience.

Pass the repeal of the Affordable Care Act or there will be no XBox for you tonight.

But 37 is a prime number!

Yes, but the fact it’s the 12th prime number undercuts the idea somewhat.

So if this miracle she’s predicting does not happen in the next 2 1/2 years, will she shut the f#&$ up?

But prime numbers are a tool of the devil!!!!

I think the GOP is made up of a bunch of Douglas Adams fans and they’re hoping that number 42 will be the answer to their problem.

  • Oh, and we were so close, too! We were almost free of the terrible yoke of people below us getting subsidized (or, with Medicaid, expanded, depending on state) health insurance! Darn it! Darn Obama and his extreme nibbling-around the edges! We have to nip things like this in the bud before everybody gets some form of coverage!

Oh, well. We’ll get it next time. This Entitlement Culture has to stop, before it destroys the country I love so much and fought so hard to avoid the draft to fight for.

I believe God is going to answer our prayers and we’ll be freed from the yoke of Obamacare.

Wouldn’t his son be all for universal health care?

I still keep hoping that somehow, Ted Turner will end up marrying Michele Bachman, and they could produce a radio show together, simply because of what it would have to be called….

  • @13:

I was sorta hopin’ last election cycle that she would hook up with Janine Turner* for a runnin’ mate and do the “Bachman-Turner Overhyped” tour.

Stephen Colbert had an epic line about this: “37 of course is a prime number, meaning it can be divided only by vicious partisanship.” (might be a slight paraphrase)
