Okay, that headline isn’t exactly a revelation. Nor is the fact that they’re quite dishonest in their fundraising letters. But in the wake of the Supreme Court’s marriage rulings the American Family Association is spreading fear and paranoia to open up the checkbooks of the rubes.
A few weeks ago managers inside the United States Justice Department received a memo titled: “LGBT Inclusion at Work: The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Managers.” It was sent in advance of “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month.” One of the instructions to the managers cited the need to verbally affirm the lifestyle of these individuals. It read: “Don’t judge or remain silent. Silence will be interpreted as disapproval.”
Notice the slippery and dishonest wording here. They say DOJ managers “received” a memo and that it was “sent,” but they never say who went it. They want their followers to presume that this memo came down from Obama himself and was going to destroy the rights of bigots who might work at the agency. The truth? It came from an LGBT employee group and was in a pamphlet that includes “tips” for being a good boss dealing with gay employees. But since it would unravel their fake persecution story to include that information, they conveniently left it out. You can’t get their ignorant followers to keep sending them money by telling them the truth, you know.
Will you please help us continue to fight for you and your family? What kind of country are we going to leave our children and grandchildren if we don’t fight for our values?
Fight for their families? How exactly are their families affected even the tiniest little bit by the fact that gay people in California can now get married?
