Perkins Wants Justice Kennedy Impeached

Tony Perkins said on his radio show last week said that Congress should impeach Justice Kennedy because he has “breached the line of separation between the court, the judicial branch, and the Congress and has taken on the policy role making.” Right. So you’ll also be demanding that the other conservative justices be impeached for overturning the Voting Rights Act, which passed nearly unanimously, right? Yeah, I didn’t think so. It’s only “legislating from the bench” when they disagree with the result.

Wingnuts seem [cough] constitutionally incapable of thinking through what they are saying.

    Ed Brayton

This is such hypocrisy. He doesn’t care when justices disagree with the congress or the President or the majority of the American people so long as they agree with him. Plus the founding fathers specifically set it up so the justices couldn’t be impeached for the reasons he wants Kennedy Impeached.

You know, these nutjobs change so little that you could set up a script to write these stories, go on holiday for a week or 2 & no one would be any the wiser

…and I want to have a full head of hair and be 20 pounds thinner.

Other things that ain’t gonna happen.

Dear Tony: Your tears are delicious.

Just seeing the headline told me it was someone on the right who wanted Kennedy impeached for not being a big enough right-wing buffoon. I’m not really familiar with Perkins. Fools and nutbags give me the vapors.

Ed, to be fair, I think you are not giving Tony a chance. If you understand how this type of Christian expresses himself, I think you will find that

Congress should impeach Justice Kennedy because he has “breached the line of separation between the court, the judicial branch, and the Congress and has taken on the policy role making.”

    really means:

I haven’t got the slightest idea what judicial review is or how it works.

Is it even possible for Congress to impeach a justice?

  • garnetstar

So, Kennedy’s “policy role making” consists of writing opinions on cases that are brought before the Court? Shocking.

All the other liberal justices did that too, in the Windsor case, and in others. As a matter of fact, all the conservative justices have done that in one case or another, multiple times. Impeach them all. Impeach all former justices retroactively (and posthumously) who have ever written opinions.

The wingnut fantasy of getting their way by just removing people who don’t agree with them from office (Obama, Kennedy, etc. ad nauseaum) is a sign of desperation.
