Fischer: ‘Christians Are the New Blacks’

Fischer: ‘Christians Are the New Blacks’ August 26, 2013

From the Clearly Not Getting the Concept Department, we have Bryan Fischer ranting about a court ruling in New Mexico that says Christian business owners can’t discriminate against gays. Bizarrely, he says that ruling is just like the Jim Crow laws and that “Christians are the new blacks.” Uh, Bryan…the Jim Crow laws were laws that allowed businesses to discriminate against black people. In this analogy, the gay people are the equivalent of the black people and the court is breaking down the equivalent of the Jim Crow Laws.

He does have a rather amazing ability to speak calmly as the huge jumbo jet of missing the point flies right over his head….

  • I think what Fischer meant was that Christians are the new KKK, being “persecuted” for not being allowed to institutionalize their bigotry into law. Well, he’s wrong.

There is nothing new about Christians being racist bigots.

    Christians are the new blacks

A little shiver went down the viewers’ spines as they contemplated their lowly condition, but then they experienced a pleasant thrill as they realised they had actually become martyrs to the cause – and they didn’t even have to do anything. “Wow, isn”t Christianity wonderful,” they will be saying to themselves as they search for Fischer’s ‘donate’ button.

  • “Christians are the new blacks”

I don’t even want to contemplate what that means if you’re a dark-skinned, “new black” Christian. Maybe you’re a muslim?

How blacks, gays, women or even liberals could belong to most evangelical religions, never mind the fundies, is something I truly cannot fathom.

  • Fischer’s right. I saw Zimmerman following them around.

    Point of information.

Absence of law allows businesses to practise racial discrimination.

Jim Crow laws required businesses to practise racial discrimination.

I hear that New York cops just randomly stop Christians to frisk them for weapons.

    Poor, poor Christians.

  • Chiroptera

Oh, and don’t get me started on the seperate water fountains for Christians!

  • Doug Little

    Christians are the new blacks

So I’ll assume that stop and frisk will be greatly expanded in New York.

Chiroptera beat me to the punch.

I don’t mind christians. Why, I even has some of them as my friend and I’ll even let them use my bathroom. I just don’t want my daughter marrying one, however.

  • Doug Little

Well what I would really like is a bunch of little Christians to wear long-sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties, you know in the Shirley Temple days, they used to tap dance around, Now that would be a true southern wedding, wouldn’t it? But we can’t do that because the media would be on me about that.

And you don’t want her to have to sit next to one in school, studies show they can’t really be educated, but if we have nice separate but equal schools…

Only in ‘MURIKKKA!!!!! can a self-selected group that is part of 80% of the population claim victim-hood for not being allowed to make others victims and then compare themselves to actual victims without batting an eye. If their “god” did exist, “he’d” make them burst into flames for such idiocy.

  • Larry “I don’t mind christians. Why, I even has some of them as my friend and I’ll even let them use my bathroom. I just don’t want my daughter marrying one, however.”

Larry, well that’s just common sense. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not religionalist. I’m fine with employing them for housework and lawn care and such, but there are limits. Lines should not be crossed or, next thing you know, those people would want to move in to your neighborhood.

Clarice (you remember Clarice don’t you?) was telling me, just last week, about the Christian couple that moved in across the road from her and John’s place. Now the whole area smells like casseroles. She’s are afraid for their lives. I mean what do they do if the Christians break in to their home while they’re sleeping and leave them jello with fruit in it? My husband told John to get a shotgun, but he won’t hear of it. You know, come to think of it, they sound more and more like they’re liberals. Well, I won’t put up with that. Gary! Gary! Remind me to cross Clarice and John out of our address book. Gary!

  • Well, the upside of KKKristians being in the position that Fischer imagines them to be in is that when they are trying to get the right to vote, we’d only have to worry about half of them doing so.

Immediately on hearing this, Gordon Klingenschmitt formed the Christian Panthers.

Of course, the New Mexico ruling gives some rather more exact comparisons to the law; and how it’s thus a far nearer analogy to say Christians are the new KKK, who are forced (by a neutral law of general applicability) to accommodate the unwanted but protected class (gays/blacks) when engaged in commercial offerings of public accommodations.

  • John Hinkle

I think what Fischer’s saying is, the court’s ruling means gay people can refuse goods and services from Christian businesses – whereas, um, before they couldn’t – and that makes, um, Christians as a whole a group that can be discriminated against by all the gay people, because, umm…
