Walker: Donate to My Campaign Instead of Buying Christmas Presents

In a rather staggering bit of hubris, Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin sent out an email asking people to donate to his campaign rather than buy Christmas gifts for their kids this year and “give your children a gift that will keep on giving” because “a strong Wisconsin is the best gift you can give.” Here’s an image of the email:

    Er… Um… “… lost by the next Holiday Season…”

Why is Walker waging such a brutal war on Christmas?

I… I am totally flummoxed. Not by the greed, or the self-entitlement–that’s par for the course for Republicans these days. But the fact that no one at the campaign thought that this was remotely a horrible idea that would result in direct comparisons to the Grinch is just astounding to me.

I’m totally showing this to a friend of mine who has to write these kinds of letters lol

The best gift Gov Walker ever gave himself is a PAC funded to the gills by teabillies. And they will donate like there’s no tomorrow.

Instead of electronics or toys that will undoubtedly be outdated, broken, or lost by the next Holiday Season, help give your children the gift of political promises that will undoubtedly be outdated, broken, or lost by the next Holiday Season.

Shorter Scott Walker: Well, I fucked over teachers, and I got a lot of campaign donations. Now, you can fuck over your children, so that I can get a lot of campaign donations.

Sounds like he’s taken one out of the Romney playbook, who’s children “served their country” by helping him get elected (snicker) rather than getting shot at like everyone else. What givers.

I actually pretty much agree with the basic idea that people should stop buying useless pieces of plastic that are made by exploitative labor and will be junked within a couple months. I don’t really have any problem with a politician asking for donations. It’s really only the optics of putting the two together that’s a problem here.

    Dear Santa,

Here’s my donation. For Christmas give a lump of coal to all the unionized girls and boys, teachers, government workers in general (except you and your cronies, of course), the poor and the elderly.

    Thanks,

    Billy

He likes being a jerk, doesn’t he?

I’m concerned that the Democrats won’t have a good candidate to run against him when he runs for re-election. :(

I was born and grew up in Wisconsin. It was always a state of opportunity, and not rich people consolidating wealth. He is a repulsive piece of fertilzer

robnyny: I can’t say what WI was like when you were a kid, I’ve lived here off and on since 1991 and all I can say is that these people are fucking weird. Amazing that this state has elected a douche like Walker governor and sent Tammy Baldwin, a lesbian liberal, to the senate in the last couple of years. I just hope Walker runs for pres, gets rejected and slithers off to the same hole as McCarthy and Thompson did.

Brandon: You don’t have to buy your kids useless pieces of disposable plastic for Christmas. Sure, you CAN, and many folks do, but it’s not a requirement. There’s other gifts that can be given instead–trips, or tickets to an event that will genuinely be remembered for years, for instance. But it’s more than just ‘optics’ to suggest that the thing that should be ‘given’ is a donation to the politician in question.

Exactly what I was thinking. Mr. Walker has declared war on Christmas. After all, aren’t gifts to children a major part of Christmas.
