Bakker’s Bizarre Paranoia

Remember televangelist con man Jim Bakker (of whom Jeff Stilson once said “he spells his name with two Ks because three would have been too obvious”)? With Rick Joyner on his show, he said that he was afraid to criticize President Obama “because they can take and put you in prison now if you speak out against our leaders.” Really? Then would’t virtually every Republican in the country (and a hell of a lot of the Democrats) be in prison? Seriously, what fucking planet do these people live on?

Like all good RW haters, Bakkker is referring to Bizarro Obama and the things he does as opposed to real-world Obama who doesn’t do those things.

    Bizarro World. Obviously.

There are people who aren’t just criticizing, but are advocating armed rebellion who are still not in prison. I know a few people who made death threats or joked about them on social media got visits, but I don’t know if any of them ever went to prison. If so, that might be what he is using to base his paranoia on

“Seriously, what fucking planet do these people live on?”

Seriously? This planet, specifically the US of A. You know, the one where you can be declared a terrorist and then whisked off to god knows where and held forever. Or just killed.

Bakker is referring to the same Obama Clint Eastwood debated with at the RNC: An invisible one that only exists in their minds.

    Bakker’s Bizarre Paranoia

That should read, “Bakkers latest scam.”

He and Joyner are just scammers. Bakker has been trundling through life, leaving a huge trail of destruction behind him.

The man’s autobiography is titled I Was Wrong. I’m now looking forward to a sequel, Haven’t Learned a Thing.

Is his son’s TV show “One Punk Under God” still on? The fact that a son of Kim Bakker could grow up as decent as this guy should give us all hope.

I’ve had my share of criticism of Obama, and it’s still rare for me to encounter Democrats who merely complain about “our” solidarity being broken up. I don’t think they have to worry about it so long as the Republican party quietly endorses the things I hate about Obama while screaming bloody murder about the few things I like about him. Or screaming about their absurd conspiracy theories that involve time travel and magic.

There are people who aren’t just criticizing, but are advocating armed rebellion who are still not in prison.

It’s nothing Anwar Al-Awlaki didn’t do and he’s OK… Oh, wait. They blew his ass up. And his 16 year-old son, too, because.

Could it be because they’re white rightwing christian nutbags and not brown rightwing muslim nutbags that they are still alive? See, christians haven’t got it all that bad after all!!

  • grumpyoldfart

Joyner nearly shit himself when Bakker said he no longer speaks against the President because it could see him sent to prison.

Speaking against the President (and the Government) is the very thing that has given the conservative preachers so much publicity and attracted so many millions of dollars in donations from the mugs in the pews who blame Obama for everything and dearly wish to see him removed from office.

With all those potential donations at stake, Joyner had to jump in quick-smart and point out that the anti-Obama campaign must to continue: “If we don’t speak out we’ll all be in prison.”

Worse than that. The latest rightwingnut talking point is that Obama should be assassinated.

Scheuer is a Fox News “expert” and Georgetown professor. Death threats are felonies.

There have been a few of these over the last month or two. And one xian from Idaho is in prison for attempting to assassinate Obama, firing shots that hit the White House.

The fact that Mr Bakker and ilk are not in prison is lost on the sheep.

  • jasonfailes

If you speak out against our leaders, and commit a felony such as threatening to kill them, you’ll go to jail. Persecution!

The fact that Jim Bakker went right back to doing TV ministries after his release from prison rather than do something more productive shows what a complete failure he still is as a human being.

  • machintelligence

Don’t be too hard on him: it might be all that he knows how to do…

  • John Pieret

he was afraid to criticize President Obama “because they can take and put you in prison now if you speak out against our leaders.”

Well, he spent a long time in prison. Sure, it was for fleecing his flock but just how else do Religious Right televangelists speak out against anything? If the government starts prosecuting all the fraudulent televangelists, just who will stand up to make batshit crazy arguments against The Nigg … Commander in Chief?

Consider how his partner-in-sin, Jessica Hahn, went on to host shows like the classic* Thunder and Mud – of course, Jim B couldn’t have matched that, but he might have found something more original than going straight back to bible-banging…

*in the combined heavy-metal-rock and women’s-mud-wrestling genre, at least.

That’s only if your a brown-skinned, foreigners, with non-Christian religions.

White, gun-toting, flag-waving, Jeeeez-us freaks who threaten this government and its people are just not a priority (I.e. are too politically damaging to peruse).

  • shouldbeworking

I hate their flexible obedience to their god’s holey book. They want to us to follow certain sections and yet they preach rising up against the government. This is against their god’s law.

Romans 13:6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

    The hypocrisy, it burns!
