Catholic Church Protects Another (Alleged) Pedophile

Polish Archbishop Josef Wesolowski is under investigation both in Poland and the Dominican Republic for raping children but the Vatican refuses to allow him to be extradited to either country because, they say, he has diplomatic immunity since he was in the Dominican Republican as a Papal Nuncio, not as a priest.

The Vatican has told Polish prosecutors that its former ambassador to the Dominican Republic, under investigation for alleged sex abuse, is covered by diplomatic immunity and that the Vatican doesn’t extradite its citizens, Polish officials said in the latest development in an embarrassing case for the Holy See.

Polish Archbishop Josef Wesolowski is the highest-ranking Vatican official to be investigated for alleged sex abuse, and his case has raised questions about whether the Vatican, by removing him from Dominican jurisdiction, was protecting him and placing its own investigations ahead of that of authorities in the Caribbean nation.

The Holy See recalled Wesolowski on Aug. 21 and relieved him of his job after the archbishop of Santo Domingo, Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez, told Pope Francis in July about rumors that Wesolowski had sexually abused teenage boys in the Dominican Republic. Dominican authorities subsequently opened an investigation, but haven’t charged him…

The spokesman for Warsaw’s provincial prosecutor’s office, Przemyslaw Nowak, told The Associated Press that Polish prosecutors had recently asked the Vatican for information about Wesolowski’s legal status as part of its own investigation. He said the Vatican had confirmed that Wesolowski is a citizen of the Vatican city state, that the Vatican doesn’t extradite its citizens and that as a nuncio, or Holy See ambassador, Wesolowski enjoys full diplomatic immunity.

Maybe he can room with Cardinal Law, who spent much of his career as an archbishop covering up the crimes of pedophile priests under his command.

    And again, the Raping Children Church live up to its sobriquet.

    But you see, it’s punishment enough being limited to living in the Vatican palace and, occasionally, flying to smaller, mainly tropical countries that don’t have the chutzpah to arrest a Cardinal.

    Won’t someone think of the life-altering effects on Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez, a man with so much potential?

  • I am curious what exactly are the requirements to be a citizen of The Vatican and when Archbishop Wesolowski met them.

    According to Wikipedia:

    The Vatican City State law on citizenship, residence and access, which was promulgated on 22 February 2011, classifies citizens in three categories:

    a) Cardinals resident in Vatican City or in Rome;

    b) Diplomats of the Holy See;

    c) Persons residing in Vatican City because of their office or service.

    Only for the third category is an actual grant of citizenship required.

    But…, but…, but…. Pope Francis!!

  • Well, they have to do something to combat the Vatican population’s dismal reproduction rate. Sure, they’re all kid diddlers, but, at worst that means they integrate in to Vatican society too quickly.

  • Just why in fuck would anyone want to belong to this criminal organization?

    It’s just staggering that people can be such deluded sheep.

    Fucking kiddie rapers.

    Vatican faces UN grilling over child sex abuse

    The Vatican will be grilled by a UN panel over cases of child sex abuse, and will be forced to defend itself over allegations it failed to prevent the rape of thousands of children by protecting paedophile priests at the expense of victims.

    The Holy See ratified the [UN Convention on the Rights of the Child] in 1990 and submitted a first implementation report in 1994. However, it did not provide progress reports for almost ten years, and only submitted one in 2012 after receiving a storm of criticism following the revelations in 2010 of child sex abuse cases in Europe and beyond, the Associated Press has reported.

    In the reports they also include correspondence from a Vatican cardinal allegedly praising a French bishop’s decision to protect his abusive priest, and another Vatican command to Irish bishops to strike any mandatory reporting of abusers to police from their policies.

    “For too many years, survivors were the only ones speaking out about this and bearing the brunt of a lot of criticism,” said Pam Spees, a human rights lawyer for the Center for Constitutional Rights, which provided a key report to the committee.

    But according to AP, in its written response to the committee submitted last month, the Vatican declined to provide such information and did not answer many of the committee’s questions, arguing that it was not responsible for the actions of every Catholic, much less every priest or parish in the world.

    Instead, it said it is really only responsible for implementing the UN treaty where it exercises territorial control: the 44 hectares (110 acres) of the Vatican City State in downtown Rome, where 31 children currently live.
