Wingnuts: Movies Presage Nazi Military Takeover

Movieline is a wingnut website that focuses on how movies are supposedly forcing sin and immorality on the world. David Outten and Ted Baehr have a hilariously stupid column at the site about how movies are telling us of the coming Nazi-style military takeover of America. Why? Because of sexual sin. See if you can follow this “logic.”

Reports have come out that a 2010 Pentagon directive details how United States military forces can be deployed against United States citizens in the case of emergencies – as authorized by the President.

This scenario is in many movies, including the top two movies so far this year, THE LEGO MOVIE and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. It’s only logical that some of the horrible disasters presented in Science Fiction and Fantasy movies (the two most popular movie genres today) would require every possible form of military, police and superhero involvement to restore a civil society. The interventions are not always against some alien invader. Viruses and domestic superthugs have been used as reasons for intervention.

Conservatives mad that such a Pentagon directive exists aren’t being realistic. Nearly $18 trillion of federal debt and 151 million Americans receiving some form of government assistance is a recipe for financial collapse of epic proportions.

American lifestyles are sustained by the free enterprise system. Make the dollar worthless or end all government payments, and it’s predictable that families will have to do bizarre things to survive – even for just one week. The possibility of chaos is very real. If local police are unable to maintain public safety, U.S. military intervention probably would be welcomed by most uninformed citizens, just as it was in National Socialist (NAZI) Germany.

Ask yourself, “Why are we in such great danger?” The answer is the sexual revolution. The demise of marriage and the traditional family has resulted in massive spending on welfare, crime and prisons. America is losing the war on poverty because we’ve waged war on the family.

Sounds legit.

What is with conservatives making Nazi analogies? “Reductio ad Hitlerum.” This is just pure fear mongering. That seems to be all that conservatives are good for nowadays.

We are moving toward a military dictatorship but the government is tipping its hands in a movies about a comic book hero and interlocking plastic blocks. I can’t wait until they see the third Hobbit movie, if ever there was an allegory about repressing the masses and taking away civil rights it was the Hobbit.

Outten and Baehr: If local police are unable to maintain public safety, U.S. military intervention probably would be welcomed by most uninformed citizens, just as it was in National Socialist (NAZI) Germany.

The population of 1940s Germany welcomed U.S. military intervention? Who knew?

And who is it that wants to end all government payments to the poor and needy? Conservatives.

Ask yourself, “Why are we in such great danger?” The answer is the sexual revolution.

Must be all those Nazis in the Playboy Mansion, just waiting for the right time to strike.

Nearly $18 trillion of federal debt and 151 million Americans receiving some form of government assistance is a recipe for financial collapse of epic proportions.

    This isn’t correct.

    1. This is just Romney’s 47% of the US population are mooches lie. Much of those are collecting Social Security and Medicare. Which they paid for with their taxes!!!

These are self supporting programs for the next 2 decades, nearly forever in political terms.

Ironically, much of the Tea Party base are…those moochers. The tend towards poorer and older, the usual weird, angry old white people. If we abolished Social Security, food stamps, and Medicare, that would end our Tea Party problem. They would all die off a lot sooner.

    2. The $18 trillion debt is correct. Most of that is due to Reagan and Bush. It’s a problem but not one that is unmanageable. We have managed it so far.

Thanks to the frauds, Rogoff and Reinhart, we have no idea how much national debt is too much. It used to be thought that 100% of GDP was the dividing line but really, no one knows.

America is losing the war on poverty because we’ve waged war on the family.

    Incorrect again.

We are becoming poorer because of rising economic inequality. Which is the program of the right wingnuts. The main leader of this are the oligarchies particularly the Koch brothers.

This is a long term trend dating back to the 1970’s. Both parties are to blame but the GOP/Tea Party is by far the worst of the two.

I think the [cough] logic goes:

    P1: Sexual sin is bad

    P2: Nazism is bad

C: Ergo sexual sin causes Nazism

    Of course, the “evidence” for this is consists of obviously fictional movies and a hysterical reading of the directive;

Well, if they only have to do bizarre things for a week…

America is losing the war on poverty because we’ve waged war on the family.

And yet my family looks at me like I’m nuts when I dig a trenchline around them.

LEGO as the enemy of “wholesome goodness” ? Not bad for a 2×4 brick. I think it’s telling that conservatives are angry with a movie that delights in skewering blind mass consumerism.

    The Sexual Revolution!

    Is that still going?

I was there when it started in the 1960s but I thought it had faded away since then.

I think the government’s evil plan to get us comfortable with the idea is working. As far as military coup scenarios go, Obama sending out drones equipped with Krazy Glue sprayers to pacify the population, while ripping off his mask to reveal he’s been Will Ferrell all this time…honestly, I think I’d be OK with it.

  • Trebuchet

The LEGO movie… yes… NAZI propaganda if I’ve ever seen it.

Well, Lego comes from Communist Denmark. And as everybody knows, Communists are EXACTLY like Nazis. That’s how Obama can be both at the same time.

    Dibs on band name!

beatnikhusker “The LEGO movie… yes… NAZI propaganda if I’ve ever seen it.”

Yup. It’s straight out of Leni Riefenstahl’s playbook. Just like the LEGO Movie, her films were all about the power of independence and imagination over rules and blind obedience, you see.

It probably doesn’t occur to these idiots that allowing people to form nontraditional family structures IS free enterprise, while punishing them for doing so or using economic benefits to try and push them into traditional structures is the opposite of free enterprise. Women getting an equal pay check for equal work: free enterprise. A couple being free to decide which of them will work, or having both work: free enterprise. Using unfair wage structures to push women into the homemaker role: not free enterprise.

And yet somehow, countries like Denmark and the Netherlands have gone a lot farther than we have in their war against the family and government handouts, and yet their crime rates are not sky high and they are not spending huge sums on prisons. It’s an unfathomable riddle.

The so-called Sexual Revolution started sixty years ago (folks could only fuck secretly before that and were amazed when babies showed up out of nowhere) and now the military is starting to plan to react to it?

Sworn they reacted a whole lot quicker when Pearl harbor was bombed.

The link between building blocks and German dictatorships is obvious. The name, LEGO? Just replace all the Ls with Ns, Es with As, Gs with Zs, and Os with Is, and what do you get? Coincidence? I think not!
