Garlow ‘Prophecies’ a Win Against Marriage Equality

Self-declared “prophet” Jim Garlow was one of the more ridiculous speakers at NOM’s March for Marriage on Thursday and he “prophecied” that “marriage shall rule within the land, one man, one woman marriage will be established in this nation in honor of who you are as Almighty God.” Wanna bet on that, Jim?

About Ed Brayton

After spending several years touring the country as a stand up comedian, Ed Brayton tired of explaining his jokes to small groups of dazed illiterates and turned to writing as the most common outlet for the voices in his head. He has appeared on the Rachel Maddow Show and the Thom Hartmann Show, and is almost certain that he is the only person ever to make fun of Chuck Norris on C-SPAN.

Finally, someone is praying over this issue. Now things’ll really start to happen! Not things about this. Things about other things.

  • Mr Ed

Let me try my hand at prophecy, bet I can do better.

Not to long from now when marriage equity is the law everywhere in the country Garlow will stand before a small group of angry, white, older, Christians and declare victory. He will proudly tell those there that only by his efforts were Americans made aware of the gay agenda and how he was able limit the gays to marriage and not everything they wanted.

Bit like whistling going past a graveyard at night!…

With a smidgeon of “say it often enough, say it loud enough, and really really really believe it enough…and it will happen!”

    Except…it won’t!

  • Ibis3, Let’s burn some bridges

I think the word you’re looking for is “prophesied”. Prophecy is a noun, to prophesy (pronounce to rhyme with fry) the verb.

Garlow ‘Prophecies’ a Win Against Marriage Equality

    Garlow “prophecies” wrong.

I’d bet him a lifetime supply of beer on that. Bet too he lacks the guts to back that up.

(Really hoping he takes me up, coz yeah, I’m a big drinker!)

  • StevoR : Free West Papua, free Tibet, let the Chagossians return!

@ Mr Ed : Nah, they’ll get to have families too. Bet’chya.

  • StevoR : Free West Papua, free Tibet, let the Chagossians return!

May take a-while perhaps although given the momentum that’s building up and the sanity that’s finally prevailing it might happen even quicker than I predict. Which is flippin’ very.

Anyhow, equal marriage equal adoption for teh Gayz will soon be on equal level and as uncontroversial as with interracial couples I reckon.

So when it doesn’t happen, are they going to stone him to death as a false profit prophet?

  • Zeno

Yes, it’s written “prophesied” and it’s pronounced “prah-feh-SIDE,” as William Tapley uniquely and memorably demonstrates.

This sort of prohecy makes me prophesigh.
