OMG! Obama Pushing One World Government!

The Worldnetdaily has its typically hysterical and dishonest article, written by their boy wonder Aaron Klein. On the front page the link says “Obama Floats Radical 1-World Scheme.” The headline on the actual article is “Obama pushes scheme to cede U.S. oceans to U.N.” The text is the standard Six Degrees of George Soros nonsense:

President Obama is renewing his push for the U.S. to cede its oceans to United Nations-based international law.

The effort for the U.S. to ratify the Law of the Sea Convention has been a long-term goal for White House counselor John Podesta, founder of the highly influential George Soros-funded think tank, the Center for American Progress.

Podesta is a member of a group calling itself Joint Ocean Commission Initiative, which seeks to have the U.S. ratify laws and regulations governing the seas.

The Joint Ocean Commission Initiative is a key partner of Citizens for Global Solutions, or CGS, which, according to its literature, envisions a “future in which nations work together to abolish war, protect our rights and freedoms and solve the problems facing humanity that no nation can solve alone.”

Wow! This organization supports nations working together for peace, the protection of human rights and solving our vexing environmental problems! And, uh, what would be wrong with that, for fuck’s sake?

Obama’s proposing it that’s what makes it wrong!

Just like Obamacare was fine as long as it was Mitt Romneys’ idea.

And freeing Bowe Berggadahl was something that desperately needed doing until Obama did it.

In fairness, it can also be seen as a tool for hegemony; a ratification of the status of the imperial powers at the time it was founded, which is used by the US to push its agenda worldwide. The UN should be “nations working together for peace” but has been forced to rubber-stamp US wars of aggression.

That said, I support transfer of any powers from the US to the UN but I always look for the strings attached, where the US can still override the UN whenever it feels like it.

This “one world government” has always been a strange obsession with christian fundamentalists. It’s probably a group-level version of the paranoia about being moral without religion with a perception of wanting the US to stay dominant. They want their group to be in control of everything and need the fantasies about their group being moral because of magic man. I wonder if other religions have this strange paranoia about single international governing bodies, or if it’s only popular in really dominant nations?

US oceans, huh? Which oceans would those be? The Pacific? The Atlantic? AFAIK, the only oceans the US owns are the narrow strips close to land. The rest of the sea is commonly known as “international waters.” It sounds like the Wingnut Daily has yet another ignorant dumbfuck writing for them. How terribly shocking.

If the UN had its way, the Founding Fathers would’ve been tried in international courts for dumping tea in Boston’s international waters!

The US isn’t subordinate to other nations. US standards aren’t subordinate to international standards. It says right there in the The Constitution: US law is not subordinate to international law. America leads. That’s what America does. For Freedom. And oil and airbases and pushing DRM on other countries. But mostly for Freedom.

I sometimes find the fears of one-world-government and one-world-religion to be based on the assumption that whatever flavour the nuts grew up with, will not be the one to triumph. It’s like they know theirs is the crazy one, or that everyone else is crazy and won’t vote for it.

Way back when I was first introduced to the black helicopter crowd, I noticed that while they railed against one-world government, they never explained why they thought it would be a bad thing. It was just assumed. I still don’t think I’ve ever heard them articulate their reasons, although I can guess. I’d love to get some of them on the record with their answers.

It’s the AntiChrist. One World Government means One World Leader, who must, of course, be the AntiChrist. It’s right there in Revela …, no, Daniel …, well, Thessalonians …; somewhere in the Bible, anyhow. 666 and all that! Therefore, OWG: it’s going to happen, and it will be the beginning of the End! Eleventy!

    Following on from 4.

Article 1 of the United Nations Convention On The Law Of The Sea (emphasis added)

For the purposes of this Convention:

    (1) “Area” means the seabed and ocean floor and subsoil thereof, beyond the limits of national jurisdiction;

In other words ratifying the convention would have no effect on America’s seas only on international waters. A brief check confirms that the US government appears to accept the 12 mile limit mentioned in the convention so this is a non starter.

Go ahead and laugh but when those socialist foreigners make us have to drive an extra three hours to reach the new coastlines and we have to pay them admission to get into the water you won’t be laughing!
