KKK Leader Removed From Town Watch

The “grand wizard” (read: lead asshole) of the KKK in Philadelphia has been removed from the town watch in the historic Tacony neighborhood in Northeast Philly. Apparently no one had any idea that he was a white supremacist until he started distributing fliers to recruit other shitheads.

After years of dedicated service with the Tacony Town Watch, Bill Walters was told his services were no longer needed earlier this year. The reason for his ouster? Walters is a proud member of the East Coast Knights of the True Invisible Empire, that empire being the Ku Klux Klan. And Walters isn’t just a member. No, he’s the group’s Grand Dragon, which at least sounds impressive.

“We received information that Bill had been distributing flyers in the neighborhood trying to recruit new members,” says town watch president Joe Nicoletti of the excommunication, adding that no one on the town watch had a clue about their neighbor’s association with the Klan until the flyers turned up. “And part of our bylaws state that members must promote harmony in the neighborhood, and we all know that harmony is not what the KKK is about.”

Walters has been with the KKK, which he consistently refers to as “my Christian group,” for over 30 years. He has lived in the Tacony neighborhood for the last 20, joining the town watch about five years ago. Walters also served as Republican committeeman in the 65th Ward for more than a decade until he was recently kicked out.

And Walters doesn’t get what all of the fuss is about.

He claims that he’s being persecuted for his religious beliefs. “We are a conservative Christian group,” he says. “My rights were infringed upon. I can’t believe in what I want to? This has infringed on my First Amendment rights. It’s reverse discrimination.”

No, your rights haven’t been violated. You don’t have a right to be part of that group. I love this part:

But, naturally, Walters maintains that he doesn’t hate anyone or have a lick of prejudice in his body. The KKK isn’t a hate group, he says.

“I know we have a bad name, but it’s not that way no more,” he insists. “When was the last time a black or Hispanic got hung on a tree?”

“We don’t lynch black folks anymore. That means the KKK is not a racist organization”

    Yeah. Sure buddy.

    “It’s reverse discrimination”

Not defending this dickbag in any way but does this have an actual legal definition? Because from what I’ve gathered there’s nothing “reverse” about it, when it’s claimed what they’re claiming is just discrimination. Wouldn’t “reverse discrimination” be preferential treatment? Whatever, this isn’t any kind of discrimination, they’re exercising their right to freedom of association by not associating with a racist douche nozzle.

The KKK stopped lynching blacks and Hispanics because they lost the power and community support to get away with it, not because they stopped being racist douchebags.

You mean like those “border patrol” guards who were accused of raping people? Thing is his cries of “religious persecution” would strike a cord with those “religious liberty” promoters. If it’s OK for christian businesses to discriminate against homosexuals because of God, why not against non-whites for the same reason? I’d like to see the tap dancing they do to justify one but not the other.

You never heard the Grand Wizard of Wrestling talk like this guy.

Damn, when you make pro-wrestling seem intellectual & honest…

    …to recruit other shitheads.

    I think it’s spelled “sheetheads”.

Walters: “I know we have a bad name, but it’s not that way no more,” he insists. “When was the last time a black or Hispanic got hung on a tree?”

The church hasn’t drawn and quartered heretics for centuries, but KKKhristian leaders still claim legitimate government is a real threat to their god and exhort their followers to work against it.

And how ironic that he should be distributing fliers for the Klan in the 50-year anniversary month of Goodman, Schwerner and Chaney?

I guess the reverse is concerning the direction. So a minority is discriminated when they get distadvantages relative to the dominant, majority, more powerful group. So “reverse discrimination” would be people in the dominant majority being disadvantaged.

If the minority then became dominant, only then would it turn into reverse discrimination.

But just using the very term itself is admitting “I have it better, I’m in the dominant majority, I don’t usually face disadvantages because of who I am”, so anyone using it will always sound like a whining crybaby.

Indeed, is there any more clear an indication that a person is likely to be an asshole than when they style themselves as a “wizard” outside of a LARP or stage magic show?

  • Abdul Alhazred

Given the lack of historical continuity, being a Grand Wizard of the KKK *is* a form of LARPing, albeit the “dark side”.

    Bill Walters:

“I know we have a bad name, but it’s not that way no more,” he insists. “When was the last time a black or Hispanic got hung on a tree?”

Sounds like the kind of idiotic whine one would expect from the god of the New Testament trying to disassociate himself from his deeds in the Old Testament; as if he wasn’t still infinitely evil in the NT.

Fuckin’ Hitler! He wrecked it for good, hardworking Nazis EVERYWHERE!!

I would suggest that Billy take a trip to L.A. and proclaim that with a loudspeaker from his perch on a soapbox at the corner of Florence and Normandie.
