Pastor: Contraception Users the ‘Wreckage of Humanity’

Joy Pinto is a pastor and she also runs the badly misnamed Her Choice Birmingham Women’s Center in Alabama. She spoke at this year’s National Right to Life Convention and showed just how much respect she has for the women — she calls them the “wreckage of humanity” — who come there:

“There is a war on women, but we are not the ones waging the war….I have the privilege on a daily basis – being the director of a pregnancy medical center — to see the wreckage of humanity that walks in my door because they have bit the apple. They have believed the lie that this government, that all the politics and even some churches, tell them that it’s ok to go use contraceptions, it’s ok to use abortion as a backup birth control and then we get to see how they’re suffering emotionally, psychologically, physically, spiritually.”

Well I can certainly see why women would want to walk through those doors, don’t you? By the way, she’s lying when she calls it a “pregnancy medical center.” It performs no medicine whatsoever. It’s a so-called “crisis pregnancy center” (i.e. an anti-abortion propaganda center) with support groups and little else.

About Ed Brayton

After spending several years touring the country as a stand up comedian, Ed Brayton tired of explaining his jokes to small groups of dazed illiterates and turned to writing as the most common outlet for the voices in his head. He has appeared on the Rachel Maddow Show and the Thom Hartmann Show, and is almost certain that he is the only person ever to make fun of Chuck Norris on C-SPAN.

Is it just me or is it verrrrrrrrrryyyyyyy weird to see a social conservative female pastor? That’s some seriously fucked up cafeteria Christianity.

  • Chiroptera

“Wreckage of humanity”? Is that what passes for saying “sluts” politely?

  • richardelguru

If they’re not when they walk in her door, I bet they are by the time she’s finished with them.

  • Pen

There’s a lot of ‘wreckage of humanity’ out there, isn’t there? And for a start, men are contraception users too. It takes two to precipitate the need to avoid reproducing.

  • weaver

Truth in advertising measures should force this assemblage to change their name to the “National Right to LIE Convention”.

  • Gretchen

“Wreckage of humanity”? Is that what passes for saying “sluts” politely?

Not using slurs ! = polite.

Tony Perkins is wreckage of humanity. I’d much rather be called a slut.

  • Synfandel

…we get to see how they’re suffering emotionally, psychologically, physically, spiritually.

How, exactly, does one suffer spiritually?

  • busterggi

“How, exactly, does one suffer spiritually?”

    By running out of booze.

Another case of Bryan Fischer-like projection.

I have a couple of questions for Ms. Pinto….

    1. Is she now or has she been married?

    2. How many children has she borne?

If the answer to question 2 is significantly less than the number of childbearing years she is/was married, then….

    3. Isn’t hypocrisy a sin?

I’d like to ask her what the Bible has to say about women as pastors.

  • John Pieret

BTW, dibs on the band name “Wreckage of Humanity.”

  • Synfandel

The Wreckage of Humanity played my high school in ’79. Police broke up the show after the bass player sprayed a fire extinguisher into the audience.

She is married to Jim Pinto and they have four children. I’m assuming that they had sex four times and then both embraced celibacy. Although to be fair, she has apparently survived cancer and that may be why she has been unable to remain pregnant 9 months out of every 10.

  • smrnda

I could say many things, but I’ll pick the most mundane claim of all ; such a high % of women use or have used contraception that if we’re talking about the ‘wreckage of humanity’ we’re talking close to 99% of the female population. Is she actually implying that the possibly less than 1% of women who are totally not using contraception represent some ideal the rest of the world should aspire to? Has this tiny segment *really* done more than any other for humanity?

  • eric

It strikes me that the women walking through her door are the ones who didn’t use contraception, not the ones who did. So if the women walking through your door are wrecks, then it can’t be “using contraception” that’s the problem.

  • naturalcynic

Maybe she was preaching only to the women present. She wouldn’t presume to balk to the men with such authority [/snark]

and if close to 100% of the women, well. that just goes to show that everybody’s a sinner, so grovel away.

Well, they’ve done the only thing that women are good for.

“Hot Pinto” sounds like a brand name for a vibrator.

  • chilidog99

Damn. How did the iPhone change that forum joy to hot?

I need new contact lenses. :(

Wingnut: “I have the privilege on a daily basis…”

Yes you certainly do, perhaps you should check it.

To be fair, so does chilidog99 😉 I hope your Iphone is similarly helpful with re-wording Youtube comments.

  • Dr X

Yeah, and if she opened a clinic for people tormented by a Catholic or Evangelical upbringing she wouldn’t have enough room for the human wreckage even if the clinic was a stadium. Fucking imbecile.

  • Francisco Bacopa

if you watched the video you would notice a total tall tale. Ms Pinto tells a story of an implausible superslut who had extramarital sex on Wednesday and took an EC pill on Thurs. That night she supposedly had sex with yet another guy and took more EC on Friday morning. Well guess what she did that night? Bingo, yet another dude. So she goes to an abortion clinic on Sat morning.

This just doesn’t add up: 1. if she took EC on Thurs, she probably would not feel that much like sexytimes due to the side effects. 2. Supposing she did hook with another dude that night, there would be no benefit to taking EC again as when it works, it works by suppressing ovulation. Furthermore, I believe taking two successive doses of EC is conntraindicated and would have some serious side effects. 3. Supposing there was a dude number three and she went to an abortion clinic on Saturday? What exactly are they going to do there?

Many years ago I wrote this bit of doggerel:

Whilst I slavered over her quivering Volvo,

She dreamily caressed my throbbing Pinto.

I rammed my Pantera into her Vega

Until she had a shuddering Omega.

She’s been married for 37 years and has four kids. Her bio says that she’s a cancer survivor. Considering her regard for truth and accuracy…

  • leni

@ Francisco, you watched that bullshit?

I just like the idea of going to an abortion clinic at 12 hours-4 days “pregnant” lol. I think they need to rename Plan B to Plan A, because we can just eat that shit for breakfast and then hit the abortion clinic on Saturday after the gym for good measure.

So much easier and cheaper than an IUD! Do I have to have to get Obamacare for this or can I just show up Saturday morning?

  • dingojack

“Her bio says that she’s a cancer survivor.”

Yes – and so was Lance Armstrong*.

As the front lines of Christian religions and cults are pushed further back to the fringes, those that are left in little grumpy pockets of resistance represent the real dregs of humanity…nasty, frightened, bloated, ignorant, bitter, lying harpies, without a valid clue between them.

They should really be jailed for their offences against vulnerable women, they are no better then vermin feeding on their victims with no care beyond self satisfaction, while bolstering and reinforcing their righteousness orgasm, the misery, guilt and hate they dispense has no depths to which they will not descend to achieve that.

Horrific examples of humanity all seem to wear the face of religion with few exceptions.

The projection displayed is beyond chilling it is a sad condemnation of their capacity as a human being.

  • anne mariehovgaard

Is she actually implying that the possibly less than 1% of women who are totally not using contraception represent some ideal the rest of the world should aspire to?

Well obviously – lesbians who don’t have PCOS or similar health problems (or share toys) are the human ideal and you should all aspire to be just like us.

  • democommie

I’m pretty sure that Armstrong’s claim of having had cancer is fairly easy to verify.

And, yes, he is apparently a facile liar; perhaps witnessing to the LORD is in his future?
