Rios: Impeach Obama for Bush’s Actions!

Sandy Rios is upset that some Republicans don’t want to impeach Obama and she’s using something Bush did as proof that he has committed “high crimes and misdemeanors.” Specifically, the fact that the leader of the Benghazi attack was released from Gitmo. There’s just one problem: He was released in 2007.

Upset that Fox News host Andrea Tantaros came out against impeachment, Rios cited the release of a Guantanamo Bay detainee, Abu Sufian bin Qumu, who was later implicated in the 2012 Benghazi attack, as proof that Obama is guilty of “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

Qumu, however was released in 2007, two years before Obama took office.

To be fair, I bet Obama used George Soros’ time machine — the one he used to go back to 1961 and plant those fake birth announcements for him — to go back in time and forge Bush’s signature on the release papers.

About Ed Brayton

After spending several years touring the country as a stand up comedian, Ed Brayton tired of explaining his jokes to small groups of dazed illiterates and turned to writing as the most common outlet for the voices in his head. He has appeared on the Rachel Maddow Show and the Thom Hartmann Show, and is almost certain that he is the only person ever to make fun of Chuck Norris on C-SPAN.

  • some bastard on the internet

Oh, yeah? Well, it’s still Obama’s fault, Ed! He shoulda done something during the Clinton administration to make that Qumu would never be a threat to the U.S. (technically, that makes it Bill Clinton’s fault, too)!

  • felicis

Love the quote at the end of the article, “I’m not sure what you call people like me who actually think it should be seriously discussed.”

    Ooh! I have a suggestion!

  • D. C. Sessions

I totally support the Republicans bringing a Bill of Impeachment with this as the cause.

  • Artor

But-but-but- Didn’t John Boehner insist it’s not the Republicans crying for impeachment? I’m so confused!

  • Larry

Like him or hate him, you really have to respect Obama’s abilities to get RWNJs to spout such inane and flat out wrong reasons to impeach him so that the Dems can raise lots of money and make these idiots look even more foolish. I’m positive this was the last thing Rios would have ever said on her own as we all known the GOPers would never, ever bring up impeachment.

  • dan4

Also, the release of Qumu wasn’t illegal at all, much less a “high crime and misdeameanor.”

  • thebookofdave

I totally support the Republicans bringing a Bill of Impeachment with this as the cause.

They should save themselves a lot of trouble and serve it to him prior to the 2008 primaries. Or does the RWNJ time machine only visit the Reagan alternate time line?

I would encourage all Dems to suggest that Ms. Rios immediately bring charges on that point as loudly as possible, then point out that they’re accusing the wrong person.
