Jody Hice, the preacher turned politician who is almost certain to be in Congress from the state of Georgia, is joining many of his fellow wingnut preachers in being shocked and outraged that the IRS would do exactly what they demanded they do — crack down on preachers violating the IRS code by endorsing candidates from the pulpit.
For the last six years, the ADF and dozens of preachers around the country have been trying to get the IRS to enforce that rule so they would have standing to mount a legal challenge to its constitutionality. And for six years, the IRS has done absolutely nothing, letting them flout the law at will. But now due to the settlement of a lawsuit filed by the Freedom From Religion Foundation, the IRS might possibly think about considering maybe enforcing it. And that has preachers like Hice who dared them to do so screaming bloody murder about it. Here he is throwing a fit about it on his radio show.
