With a staggering number of “ex-gay” activists over the last year or two coming out and saying that it was all a lie, that they’re really still gay and that you can’t change who you are, the Christian right bigotry industry is in a bit of an uproar. Peter LaBarbera says those people owe the remaining bigots an apology:
While speaking to Janet Mefferd yesterday about recent statements by people like Randy Thomas, Yvette Schneider, Alan Chambers and John Paulk who, among others, have denounced the ex-gay movement they once took part in, LaBarbera said that they are “sellouts” who, instead of apologizing to the LGBT community, should apologize to the Religious Right.
LaBarbera said such activists are “negating the word of God to score some points with the politically correct thought police” while hurting “people trapped in homosexuality.”“He needs to apologize to the body of Christ now for selling out the Bible,” he said of Thomas. “That’s the apology I want to see from Alan Chambers and Randy Thomas and all of these sellouts, is people saying I’m coming back to this route and then apologizing to the body of Christ for promoting error.”
Yes, yes, yes. The truth is terribly inconvenient for you, so those who are telling it should apologize to you for totally screwing up your argument. My heart bleeds for you.
