Congressman Wants Obama in Prison for Immigration Order

Just how crazed has the Republican party’s hypocritical freakout over President Obama’s immigration order become? Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama is now demanding that Obama be impeached, prosecuted and put in prison for five years. On what legal basis? He has no idea.

Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks, one of the lower chamber’s most energetic critics of comprehensive immigration reform, suggested that the president’s move could potentially be grounds for impeachment, or even prison time.

Brooks said there is a federal statute (“I don’t have the citation for it at the tip of my tongue”) making it a felony to aid, abet, or entice a foreigner to illegally enter the U.S.

“At some point, you have to evaluate whether the president’s conduct aids or abets, encourages, or entices foreigners to unlawfully cross into the United States of America,” he continued. “That has a five-year in-jail penalty associated with it.”

Seriously, there simply is no limit to how ridiculous these Tea Party types can be. None whatsoever.

there simply is no limit to how ridiculous these Tea Party types can be

If there was, they wouldn’t be Tea Party types.

“Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks, one of the lower chamber’s most energetic critics of comprehensive immigration reform”

So he is against immigration reform – yet he complains about how the present immigration laws work – face it, this guy will never be satisfied until brown people are just plain made illegal to exist.

This is the same nutbag that claimed that Obama and the Democrats were declaring war on white people a few months ago.

I don’t see the problem here.

If we put Obama in prison over immigration rules, than we have to put George Bush and Ronald Reagan in prison for the exact same thing.

Of course, we would have to dig Reagan up but that isn’t much of a problem either.

Hmmm, it might almost be worth it. Maybe we can put Cheney in prison with them.

This is the same nutbag that when repeatedly asked (on the “All In with Chris Hayes” show) if he thought Reagan was wrong to do the same thing, replied that Clinton was wrong to do it. He simply would not say the word “Reagan”.

You just know that some foreigners are going to jump into their time machines and come into the country back in 2008 because of this order!

    Dear Mr. Brooks,

Those are excellent ideas. I merely offer one small modification: please begin Impeachment proceedings around March-June 2016.

You have to wonder if the representative would like to have the President tried in Judge Lynch’s courtroom.

As with anything these loons want to impeach Obama over, it comes down to presidenting while blah. Always. They simply cannot wrap their peanut-sized brains around that simple fact of the President’s skin color.

I will disagree with you on this specific issue (but not the general issue of there being a lot of racism in criticisms of Obama).

The GOP impeached Clinton because he had an affair. Now they say they want to impeach Obama because of executive overreach. I predict that calling for impeachment is now a permanent rhetorical device of the GOP. I think impeachment has lost the ‘going nuclear’ reputation and reverence politicians used to have for it, and I predict that they will trot out a call for impeachment against any and every Democratic president in the future, no matter what their race, sex, age, creed, color, whatever. Its now part of the standard political speak. In fact, if Hilary gets elected President, I will go on record as saying I bet some sitting Congresscritter will be calling for her impeachment before the first year is up.

    @10 eric…

What do you think BENGHAZI!!!11eleventy!! is about?

It’s not about Obama. It’s about Hillary.

I predict she will be elected president and that at some point in the first 10 days of her administration a Tea Party creep will raise BENGHAZI!!11eleventy!! as an impeachable offense. That’s right…the over/under on this is 10 days.

@9: Getting tired of all the race-baiting regarding Obama. When Bill Clinton was accused by some conservatives of having Vincent Foster iced, was such slander due to the fact that Clinton was Caucasian? All reasonable people know that Brooks probably spews such stupidity towards Obama because of his party affiliation (witness his weird deflection regarding immigration and Reagan, as xuuths@5 mentioned), not because of skin color. It’s most likely “partisanism,” not racism.

All Rep. Mo has to do is introduce a resolution to impeach. Easy to do, just copy/paste the House resolution to impeach Pres Clinton and substitute immigration for ‘whatever’.

  • jnorris

Just a thought: why not have a Democrat in the House of Reps introduce a resolution to impeach President Obama. The Tea Party’s (formerly known as the Republican Party) reaction would be priceless.
