Death for Blasphemy. And for Defending Blasphemy.

Those warm and fuzzy Muslim fascists in Pakistan not only try to kill, and often succeed in killing, anyone who is even accused of blasphemy, they also try to kill anyone who defends them in court or suggests that perhaps the law should be changed to lessen the punishment for that “crime.”

Gunmen opened fire at the residence of a lawyer defending a university lecturer accused of blasphemy and dropped a letter warning him to withdraw from the case, police said on Thursday.

Shahbaz Gormani escaped unhurt after gunmen riding motorbikes attacked his residence in Multan late Wednesday.

Gormani had been appointed defence lawyer in the case after gunmen shot dead Rashid Rehman, a defence counsel for Junaid Hafeez in May.

Hafeez, a lecturer at Bahauddin Zakariya University, was accused of making derogatory remarks against the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) in March last year.

Local police say they’re investigating. I don’t suggest holding your breath until that investigation actually finds anything.

I will never, ever, understand how a so-called diety (or his long dead prophets and apostles), needs to be defended by humans. Invisible skydaddy gets his feelings hurt when you say something he doesn’t like, so his earthly defenders must rush to his defense and brutalize and kill (often both) his “attackers.” Same goes for his long dead favourite pets.

Local police anywhere have a tendency to find nothing – unless its someone the cops & community agree they don’t like.

If Pakistan wasn’t such a backwards country, they could just send this case to a grand jury for non-indictment.
