Gina Miller Gives It the Ol’ College Try

I find it endlessly amusing to see Christian right bigots strain to find some new way to express their bizarre, paranoid belief that gay people are trying to outlaw Christianity, destroy marriage, hell destroy the whole world for that matter. Gina Miller gives it the ol’ college try at BarbWire:

I have repeatedly warned that the goal of this radical sexual anarchy movement is not what its members purport. It is not for “equality,” “anti-bullying” or legitimate “civil rights.” It is to abolish all public opposition to the in-your-face expression of homosexuality and related behaviors (like “transgenderism”) and the destruction of the meaning of marriage. This is a back door way to crush our God-given, constitutionally protected rights to freedom of religion, speech, conscience and association. The Godless Marxists who have infiltrated our nation’s power structure have long wanted to subdue the American people under the tyranny that is so common throughout the world and human history, yet the system our Founders put in place has been a strong bulwark against such oppression. In the militant homosexual movement, these budding tyrants have found the tool they need to destroy our freedoms through increments of judicial malfeasance, leading to bad law and regulation, such as non-discrimination dictates that protect sexual deviants at the expense of the real rights of the American people.

In danger are the freedoms of all Americans who oppose being forced to accommodate or participate in any aspect of homosexual expression and counterfeit marriage; however, it is mainly Christians who take a bold stand against this movement and the rest of the sin-laden rot that has infested our culture. That’s why I say it is chiefly the rights of Christians that are the target of this satanic movement, although anyone who opposes it stands to lose their God-given rights as well.

We are set to watch the Supreme Court possibly issue the “unquestionable” imposition of same-sex “marriage” on the United States. If that happens, we will be on the fast-track to tyranny. It will become illegal to oppose homosexual expression and counterfeit marriage in any way. If the Court does this, it will effectively abolish the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. Do not imagine for a minute that churches will be exempt. They won’t. These tenacious sodomite tools of the devil will not rest until even churches are forced to accommodate the slaves of the infamous crime against nature and nature’s God. Even then, they won’t stop their hellish crusade to establish a dominant Sodom West in these terrible last days.

Tyranny! Satan! Sodomite tools of the devil! Eh, I’ll give it about 750 milli-Bachmanns.

So, what’s the answer? What do we do? Just bend to the evil will of our degenerate culture and lawless courts? No. We are entering a time of trial and fire unlike any seen in the history of the United States, and its power goes well beyond the schemes of the “useful idiots” of the radical homosexual movement. The persecution of Christians in the U.S. has only just begun, as Satan’s global, last-days regime falls horribly into place. We must look for inspiration and encouragement to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He has assured us that we should not expect to be treated any differently or hated any less than He was during His earthly ministry. Christians in America have thus far had an amazingly blessed existence, mostly free from the demonic persecution Christians elsewhere have seen. We must brace ourselves for the unimaginably dark days ahead.

What’s the answer? What should you do? Oh, just keep doing what you’re doing and I’ll keep pointing and laughing. Together, we’re kind of a team, you and me.

It is to abolish all public opposition to the in-your-face expression of homosexuality and related behaviors (like “transgenderism”) and the destruction of the meaning of marriage. This is a back door way to crush our God-given, constitutionally protected rights ..

*Snigger* What is it with these pitiable fools and the inneudo they don’t seem to realise they’re sneaking into their rants by the um, back door so to speak. Do they not realise they are talking out of their arses ..

    The Godless Marxists ..

So .. all non-heteronormative folks are Marxists now? Just curious but is Marxism even a thing with anybody these days? Does this klown even know what Marxism means and what Karl actually thought and advocated at all?

If the Court does this, it will effectively abolish the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Not a lawyer but, I don’t think the Court could actually do this even if it wanted to, yeah?

These tenacious sodomite tools of the devil will not rest until even churches are forced to accommodate the slaves of the infamous crime against nature and nature’s God.

Isn’t Natures God Demeter or Earth Mother or Gaia? Sorry, but I think those deities have much more respect for living things and people than your one and really aren’t fussed. Guess the long list of animals known to engage in teh ghey secckss must have passed this douchebag by. To say nothing of self-pollinating plants!

… their hellish crusade to establish a dominant Sodom West ..

Its worse than that the Milllitent Hwomosexshual architects have also planned a Gomorrah Gardens and Lower Sodom town right behind it too! Oh noes! Also “crusades” .. that word you use, I think my irony filter must be malfunctioning somehow ..

We must look for inspiration and encouragement to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Which rabbi said what about Teh Gheys again ..?? Go on I’ll wait .. crickets .. cicadas .. katydids ..

Ed Brayton : “Together, we’re kind of a team, you [Gina Miller] and me.”

That’s one shocking “teammate” ya got yerself there! Talk about odd bedfellows so to speak! (Metaphorically) I think you need to empahise the “kind of” more here.

Fundies shriek and shriek. Fortunately, they rarely gain ground.

And Gina what was the ‘sin of Sodom’ again?* Go look it up, I’ll wait.

You know what else is “counterfeit marriage” and actually condemned by their Lord and Savior? Remarriage after divorce. Yet there is no movement to protect the “rights” of Christians to refuse to participate or recognize in that form of “sexual sin.” And Christians used to decry heresy, but now don’t complain about being forced to treat those who practice the “wrong” form of Christianity equally. One would almost think religious beliefs can change over time. Imagine that.

If the Court does this, it will effectively abolish the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.

If the Court does this, do you want to bet that Gina Miller and her ilk will go right on publishing hyperbolically crazed screeds while never seeing the inside of a jail cell? They somehow keep confusing freedom of speech and freedom of religion with a “right” to discriminate.

  • wreck

Gina really needs to start taking her meds again.

  • Michael Heath

Gina Miller, who advocates we use government power to deny gay people protection of their rights equal to her own:

The Godless Marxists who have infiltrated our nation’s power structure have long wanted to subdue the American people under the tyranny that is so common throughout the world and human history, yet the system our Founders put in place has been a strong bulwark against such oppression.

The Christian religion teaches this sort of delusionally idiotic thinking. Christians celebrate their ‘freedom in Christ’. That’s a ‘freedom’ described by the NT biblical edict that people must childishly, slavishly, and blindly submit to the Christian god or else suffer for all eternity; i.e. they claim grace and justice when it’s really the most evil extortion threat ever foisted on humanity. This sort of freedom meets Orwell’s test of using one word to promote the opposite result.

Gina Miller’s argument, and the dogmatic source of her underlying argument, illustrates why Christopher Hitchen’s assertion, that ‘religion poisons everything’, resonates to some degree. At least enough we should keep it in mind when observing religious people’s behavior and attempt to discern their motivations.

  • dugglebogey

Have you seen any group try to protect their right to hate this much since the civil rights movement?

When there’s two groups, and one is fighting for the right to express love, and one is fighting for the right to express hatred, you should look very closely at which group you are in.

  • Michael Heath

    John Pieret writes:

They somehow keep confusing freedom of speech and freedom of religion with a “right” to discriminate.

Re the scare quotes on “right” [to discriminate]: Not only does Gina Miller have a right to discriminate, but that right is now largely, and sadly I think, protected by the government. The government frequently protects these bigots’ rights when it comes to housing, employment, their religious practices, and even how they parent.

We are of course observing an astonishing change in whose rights are protected at the expense of others. Federal court orders and some legislation increasingly requires the government to protect the rights of gay people and their families, sometimes even at the expense of the bigots’ rights. However, claiming Ms. Miller has no right to discriminate as you do above denies current reality.

  • Michael Heath

    dugglebogey writes:

Have you seen any group try to protect their right to hate this much since the civil rights movement?

Yes I have. In the Spring/early-Summer of 2008 then-Sen. Barack Obama emerged as the Democratic nominee for President. Fox News regularly led all their prime-time segments for several weeks straight with incredibly racist screeds. In particular they used the Jeremiah Wright rant like they used Benghazi some years later.

Fox and the rest of conservative media provided the ‘moral’ space for conservatives to begin outwardly expressing their racism in ways we hadn’t seen since Reagan’s Welfare Queen meme.

I still encounter far more racism amongst conservative Christians than I do bigotry towards gay people, in spite of their remaining the sole large group that continues to hate on gay people. Of course most couch their racism now days, but it remains demonstrable and unfortunately – effective enough it’s statistically significant when social scientists study the impact of racism.

  • John Pieret

    Michael Heath:

However, claiming Ms. Miller has no right to discriminate as you do above denies current reality.

You are right, of course, that our present laws do not sufficiently protect LGBT people from discrimination and worse. The scare quotes were more to distinguish what I (and most people here) think the law should be from what people like Miller think.

I’ll join in the dog pile and point out that in addition to points made there’s also a serious confusion here between force and persuasion. Miller is right when she says that the ultimate ‘goal’ of the gay movement is to change the hearts and minds of people themselves. Gay and transexual people want to be thought of as normal people, yes — not perverts, sinners, or deviants. You can’t do that through the law. You can only change the law to stop treating a marginalized class as unequal in governmental matters. After that, it’s persuasion — rational arguments coupled with emotional appeal.

Persuasion will always look like force to people who don’t have a rational leg to stand on. Faith is supposed to place views on a pedestal above suspicion. That’s the “religious freedom” their really afraid of losing.

No law can or should force a church to revise its policies regarding sin. Those revisions come from within — and Miller and her cronies know that. It won’t be outsiders telling them what to do. They fear becoming a despised minority within their own churches as more and more Christians change their minds about homosexuality.

That’s not an example of constitutionally protected rights of conscience being “crushed.” That would be a matter of those rights crushing bad ideas — and the holders of these bad ideas along with it. Like it or not, religions evolve.

For those who feel the above screed was tl;dr

Paragraph 1: “hurr hurr, we’re being persecuted by godless marxist perverts and if we can’t hate everybody without being criticized its persecution!”

Paragraph 2: “hurr we can’t express hate anymore (except we can) and we think everybody besides us is a ‘degenerate'”

Paragraph 3: “Magic words: Satan, sodomite, end days!”

Paragraph 4: You know what, fuck this. It’s just more mindless fundie-dreck.

These nuts lie all the damn time, and they call us degenerates and sinners?

Ya know, this discussion has made me think a little more about this tendentious issue. You can open a business that caters to a particular demographic. Consider Christian Mingle, a dating service for Christians. Now I don’t know how or if Christian Mingle limits its customers to Christians or to any specific flavor of Christians, but I can’t see any particular legal or constitutional problem with it. Augusta national is still a men’s club. I don’t know if penis checks are involved. But those are technical problems.

There would be a few conditions before someone could open a “Christian bakery.” First and foremost, it would have to hold itself out that way publicly in its advertisements and other promotional material. It couldn’t just put up a sign that says “Bakery” and accept customers off the street … it would have to be a “By Appointment Only” business or associated with some Christian organization. And then it gets really complex. Say you are gay but are a member of a Christian sect that allows same-sex marriage? Can the baker just say we cater only to Christians that oppose same-sex marriage? Aren’t we then back in the same place? And if you start carving out Episcopalians or other sects who allow same-sex marriage, don’t you run afoul of anti-religious discrimination laws.

The best thing about these issues is that they’ll lawyers like me busy and well paid for the foreseeable future.

It’s hard to tell whether Gina Miller is going on an anti-SSM rant, or rehearsing a new role as a Band Name Generator (itself a decent band name).

This is a back door way to crush our God-given, constitutionally protected rights to freedom of religion, speech, conscience and association.

On the positive side, at least no one’s ramming it down their throats this time.

  • wreck

    @ thebookofdave #17:

“On the positive side, at least no one’s ramming it down their throats this time”

Sure, no throat-ramming, but “in-your-face expression of homosexuality and related behaviors” (those related behaviors are the worst!) and “a back door way to crush our God-given, constitutionally protected rights”. In your face AND back door. Sounds like Gina’s got quite the active fantasy life.

And by the way, Modus, you can ‘fess up. You wrote this and submitted it to Barbwire just to see if they’d buy it, didn’t you? C’mon, you can tell us.

  • jnorris

I did not read Ms Miller’s essay, to preserve my brain cells. So, did she give any actual examples of the militant homosexuals crushing Christians under ghey iron boots?

  • StevoR

@ ^ jnorris : Not one of course!

Because Miller’s ideas of “dark days” and persecution are just having to let gay and transgender people and those who love in different ways to her do that without being discriminated against and hated on. Well, legally hated on anyhow. Indeed Miller and co can keep on hating as long as they do it impotently without harming others. It’ll just make them sad and bitter, well, no, they are already that. It won’t really make any difference to them at all.

Until just maybe after long enough of the world NOT ending and getting familiar enough with those they don’t like being happy and visibly accepted in society they come to realise that their whole cause was a hateful evil and ugly one that they should never have been fighting at all and should be ashamed of not giving up sooner. Just like with the pro-slavery and anti-interracial marriage losers. Any bets on just how long, how many decades and generations that’ll take?

(It may be less than expected actually given how much social attitudes have changed in recent decades. )

    @ 8. dugglebogey :

    Quoted for truth, well said.

@16 – I don’t know anything about Christian mingle, but for the bakery thing…think Costco, BJ’s, Sam’s Club, etc… These are clubs: you must pay a membership, get a card, etc. before you’re allowed to shop there. One could easily set up a bakery like that. I imagine the main hurdle would be making it profitable: those shopping clubs work because they can give lower prices on a large variety of items. A Christian bakery selling wedding cakes at market prices? That seems a bit too narrow a market to be able to get away with demanding an up-front membership fee.

I think the second problem you bring up would be the more difficult one: they don’t really want a ‘christians only’ club, they want a ‘straights only’ club. A Christian bakery equivalent of Costco would get sued out the wazoo the first time a gay couple from a liberal church or denomination gets refused service. In response, the club would have to limit their membership to a more narrow list of sects…but then I think they’re going to run into the profitability issue again. And even the most narrow of sects probably has some gay members ‘in hiding.’ What do you do when you’re faced with a bona fide member of some anti-gay sect that walks in and orders a gay wedding cake? Sure, they’re sinning. But your club requirements don’t say anything about excluding sinners, only about sectarian membership.

Practically, I can’t really see such clubs working as a walk-in, local store. A specialty shop that limits its clientele like that just isn’t going to make it very many places. However, they could probably make it work if it was some sort of national by-mail service (i.e., join as member, order cake on-line, have it shipped to you). Of course if they do that, it becomes very difficult to distinguish between straight and gay clients. :)

StevoR @1: So .. all non-heteronormative folks are Marxists now? Just curious but is Marxism even a thing with anybody these days?

    .

Yes, there is a wildlife sanctuary in Berkeley, CA that has several hundred breeding pairs protected and on display. However, they don’t reproduce well in captivity and biologists are afraid that they will be locally extinct by mid-century. There used to be a Marxist habitat in Boston, but I haven’t been out there in 40 years and am not sure that it still exists.

    .

They are native to British urban ecosystem, but have since hybridized with related species there. It is speculated that those genes may predominate again if their habitat changes to resemble earlier conditions.
