Farah: Obama May Not Leave Office in 2017

And here we go again, yet another wingnut who thinks President Obama may cancel the 2016 elections and refuse to leave the White House. And of course it’s Joseph Farah, who has never heard an Obama conspiracy theory he doesn’t publish or a fact he can’t distort and turn into NAZIS! COMMIES! MUSLIMS!

Question: Why are Americans so certain there will be a presidential election in 2016 and that Barack Obama will leave office in January 2017?

Answer: Because it’s the law and because it’s American tradition.

However, we currently have a man in the White House who respects neither the law nor the American tradition of peaceful changes of power.

He then offers a list of alleged abuses of power by Obama, nearly all of which were also true of President Bush and every other president we’ve had for decades. He actually lists the appointment of “czars” — there is no such thing, of course, it’s just a title the media uses for presidential advisers and heads of departments that were created by Congress. He lists the immigration orders, which are identical to the same actions taken by the last several presidents, none of whom Farah thought would refuse to leave office. And, of course, birtherism!

And then, of course, there’s the ever-present reality that Obama himself may not even be constitutionally eligible for office. In fact, if he’s telling the truth about his parentage and the “birth certificate” he produced after years of demands from the public is real, he could not possibly be a “natural born citizen” as required by the Constitution.

So with all of this history – and much more, in fact – why do we assume Obama will step aside willingly from the presidency following an election in 2016?

I’m not saying he won’t. I’m just asking why. And judging from the number of questions I’m getting along these lines from the public, I’d say there’s great concern out there across the fruited plain.

Maybe we assume he will respectfully leave office after two terms because he has publicly said he would. In 2013, Obama said he and his family might remain in Washington after leaving office.

But that begs the question of whether Obama is truthful.

No president is truthful. Hell, no human being is truthful all the time. I won several bets with liberals who thought Bush would do what Farah now thinks Obama might do. I’d be more than happy to make a bet with Farah, but with a bit more on the line. If Obama refuses to leave office, I will never write a word about politics again and will declare Farah a prophet of God. If he doesn’t, Farah will have to shut the fuck up. Forever.

The comments on the article are, of course, hilariously stupid.

There is not hardly a thing this halfrican can do that would surprise me. Once in a while he may get me to raise an eyebrow, but not very often! He is going to try something to retain power, so don’t be suprised when he pulls that trick out of his hat…

Obama will leave in 2017, go on speaking tours which will bring him in tens of millions and he will be a sought after celebrity. Dozens of secret service agents will protect him as he body surfs off the coastal shores of Hawaii. He will then announce his official conversion to Islam and the accolades will pour in – and the fawning MSM will bow at his feet. The coastal waters off Hawaii are well known for good sized Tiger Sharks – we can only hope one of them has a preference for dark meat and put an end to the antichrist named Obama!…

If he refuses to vacate the White House after his two terms, he is not eligible for protection from the Secret Service. One of his earliest executive orders was to do away with that protection for former presidents…(What?)

Why would any foreigner who is hellbent on destroying another nation, And fraudulently acquires that power, then spends 8 years coordinating that destruction, and gets his way with hardly any obstacles and is mostly successful in that endevor. Then leaves office and gives up that power only to have a American citizen come in and tear down everything he spent 8 years to built to destroy it? Ovomit isn’t going anywhere. He will declare dictator or use an EO to keep him in office. But I cannot see him leaving. I only hope and pray to God that I am wrong…

Obama has been exercising powers outside the scope of his constitutionally prescribed executive authority for a very long time. He’ll come up with something. Probably he’ll change the Constitution with another executive order…

He’s going nowhere, even if he finagles another election with himself as the democrat candidate. You think Hillary has the goods on every one?….this regime takes Fidel’s breath away. Why else are these Republicans caving left and right. Why else is O using the FBI to go after Sen.Menendez (D)? He stood up against the regime. Rome fell much the same way. And the US will go the way of Rome under this well-funded and communist-backed muslim community organizer…

Obama’s End Game.

He is propping up Iran and letting them develop nuclear weaponry capable of murdering everyone in Israel, capable of hitting Europe, and yes capable of hitting the U.S.A..

He has reduced the U.S. military down to pre-WW II levels so we won’t be able to defend ourselves.

Iran will hit a few major cities in the U.S. with nuclear bombs, (not Washington D.C.).

Obama will “surrender” saying he has no choice. Then he will be appointed “Administrator” to manage the “transition” to a more “peaceful” co-existence with Iran.

In other words, a dictatorship, a Caliphate, or worse.

And on and on like that for more than 600 comments.

Obama won’t leave office at the end of his term. I can’t blame him. I mean, who would want to go back to Kenya?

  • Artor

The stoopid, it burns! If anything, I imagine Obama is sick to death of being President. Why anyone would imagine he’d want the job for life, let alone a few more years, is beyond me. But some people are reality-averse, so there’s that.

  • Trebuchet

It’s a win-win for Farah, of course. When Obama leaves office as scheduled, he’ll take the credit.

In a way, Farah is doing the country a service. He’s whipping up the faithful, but it’s preaching to the choir. He’s not converting anybody, if anything, probably the opposite. And he’s sucking money out of the wingnuts that won’t be going to Republican campaigns.

After the 2004 elections, I did worry a bit about the Shrub Gang contriving some way of sticking around after ’08 – Karl Rove’s penchant for “thinking outside the box” did usually involve unprecedented major law-breaking, as we all knew at the time. And the escalating war on Iraq and “terrorism” could well have furnished enough of a rationale to persuade the Pentagon to support whatever emergency Cheney et al concocted.

But then came Katrina. If Bush had responded competently to that, things might have turned out differently, but the multiple continuing failures of that episode cost him his media halo as well as the respect of much of Washington, and I figured I could put that particular concern to rest. Don’t worry, though: there was still plenty more to furrow my brow, then and now.

I hear from reliable sorces that Obama is stacking cardboard boxes in the Oval Office to build a fort.

The coastal shores of Hawaii? as opposed to all those shores that are nowhere near the coast?

And then, of course, there’s the ever-present reality that Obama himself may not even be constitutionally eligible for office.

Whoa! If Obama was never the legitimately President to begin with, that means his two terms don’t count. So the two term limit doesn’t apply, and he can run for a third term! Has Obama thought of this?

  • karmacat

My question to these people is why would Obama wait 8 years. If he had taken over 8 years, he wouldn’t have had to deal with congress. I would be tempted to do something to avoid working with this congress.

The commenter, unsurprisingly, has it wrong. Obama actually sought and got legislation to remove a limitation on the time former presidents could get Secret Service protection that would have affected him and his predecessor.

Note Farah’s disclaimer: “I’m not saying he won’t.” A textbook example of stirring up fear & anger, while shielding oneself from future exposure as either a liar or an idiot.

The coastal shores of Hawaii? as opposed to all those shores that are nowhere near the coast?

Hawaii doesn’t have any lakes or rivers?

“However, we currently have a man in the White House who respects neither the law nor the American tradition of peaceful changes of power.”

Since when have tea baggers respected the Constitution’s prohibition on torture? And anyway, Obama’s let the Repubs take the House in 2010 and the Senate in 2014. Did he send an executive order to prevent nut cases from being seated as Representatives or Senators? Didn’t think so.

He has reduced the U.S. military down to pre-WW II levels […so he can succeed at Diabolical Plan X-K-Red-27.]

Oh my stars and garters! Will the anti-christs never cease! I am Groot!

What is with this idea that after a war that is literally fought on 3 continents + Islands that are traditionally grouped with Australia as part of a 4th AND involves the participation of troops from at least 5 (were S. American troops ever directly involved, anyone?) any military involved must maintain troop levels at or above those of the war’s peak or, I am Groot!, disaster will ensue.

Apparently troop levels of 1937 are treasonous, because if we are ever suddenly confronted with major industrial nations bending all their efforts on a war of conquest the same thing will happen in the future that happened after we had those sucky, inadequate 1937 group levels: we will deter attacks for years and then respond to eventual attacks by winning the fucking war.

Boy, that’s a fate we’ve got to avoid!

Matty1, rivers and lakes also have shores.

  • coffeehound

Perfectly logical. He has to extend the usurpation, he’s already behind schedule with the Fema camps, his Kenyan shock troops are not NEARLY ready for the rise of the caliphate…….Constitutions to crush, citizens to enslave, busy, busy, busy!

  • dan4

“Why else is Obama using the FBI after Sen Menendez (D)? He stood up against the regime.” Got to love the inference here that Sen. Menendez is the first and only member of Congress to criticize (“stand up against”) the Obama administration. No one in Congress during the last six years has criticized Obama until Menendez and then WHAM! dude gets investigated by the FBI for allegedly breaking the law.

karmacat: I wondered that a couple of years ago, why, if Obama intended a de facto coup, he had to wait until his second term when a successful coup meant not having to worry about elections and an unsuccessful one meant not having to worry about elections for a different reason.

The answer is obviously that he clearly didn’t stage a coup in his first term and they needed some explanation for that, but I doubt that’s how they explained it to themselves.

    * * *

Someone quoted there said he destroyed the country. Is it possible for that to be a subtle thing? Like, if there isn’t a pretty broad consensus that the country has been destroyed, is that not fairly conclusive evidence it hasn’t been?

  • John Pieret

He has reduced the U.S. military down to pre-WW II levels so we won’t be able to defend ourselves.

The truly insane part of this is that just one of our 12 nuclear aircraft carriers can project more military power than all the 20+ front-line aircraft carriers we had at the end of WWII combined. Our present military could have won a conventional war against Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany within a year, two at most. What we’ve learned, unfortunately, is that conventional military power sucks at defeating unconventional war strategies, i.e. people who are willing to melt into the general populace and strike when we least expect it and when we’re not willing to “kill everybody and let god sort them out.” The wingnuts’ real complaint is that we’re not willing to do the latter.

  • StevoR

@ ^ dingojack : Wait, run that by me again – if Obama’s telling the truth about his parentage and if his birth certificate is real (yes and yes, proven time and time again) then he … *couldn’t* be natural born?

Seems to me the exact opposite is true. Surely its only if Obama is lying about his parentage and the birth certificate is fake that he wouldn’t be native born yeah?

(Though I may be five eights asleep here and missing the obvious somewhere. Am I? Could be?)

PS. Seems to be the exact same quote from Joseph Farah used in the OP here too. IOW. not you getting that wrong but Farah or Ed Brayton .. If it is.

  • colnago80

    Re dingojack @ #19

Fuckface Farah labors under the deluded notion that both parents have to be US citizens for someone to be a natural born citizen. Under that interpretation, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Donald Trump would all be ineligible.
