WND: Hey Ben, Are the Rumors We’re Spreading True?

The Worldnetdaily has become the one-stop shop for every Obama conspiracy theory and lately they’re pushing the idea that he’s going to refuse to leave office. So how do you keep the non-existent drama that you created going? By asking your own columnists to comment on it:

President Obama leaves office on Jan. 20, 2017 – or does he? The Internet is abuzz with talk about the myriad of ways Obama might seek to extend his White House role – sparked in part by radio conjecture from conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh – and now at least one likely presidential candidate, Ben Carson, has weighed in to say: Don’t worry, Obama will leave.

First, the question from WND to Carson: “Who would stop Obama from remaining in office past his second term?”

And Carson’s reply, via email: “We the people would oppose it through our Constitution, the 22nd Amendment of which forbids more than two terms. Even some of the timid people in the other two branches of government would be willing to stand behind the fortified walls of our Constitution.”

Sounds reasonable – but the buzz persists.

The buzz that you’re creating, of course. This is so much easier than doing actual journalism. “But enough about me. What do you think about me?”

"It's "The Little Drummer Boy" that does it for me."

“People are saying…” always makes me think of this Bloom County strip.

I don’t know, I think I’m waiting to see what the guy who pushes the shopping cart around wearing a long coat and fur-ish hat in August in Georgia while mumbling to himself thinks before I make up my mind on this issue.

It’s a business model perfected by Fox News, wherein one of the evening “commentators” will say something outrageously stupid, and the next morning one of the “hard journalists” will ask a guest “analyst” to comment the outrageously stupid thing “some are saying.” An uninterrupted daisy-chain of mendacity.

It worries me a bit how much some of these people seem to want war. War with the middle east, even civil war would be fine with them. They’re practically salivating for Obama to attempt to stay in office to give them a chance to fire their guns. More puzzling still is that they think that might happen at all. They really think he’s some kind of mad gay Muslim dictator, that he has any desire to stay in his job, rather than take some high-paying, fairly easy job where he has a lot more latitude over what he’s involved in and doesn’t get publicly lambasted daily rather than being forced to respond to every single thing that confronts the country? It’s so loony I find it hard to imagine they seriously entertain it, much less think it’s a likelihood.

I don’t find Carson’s response particularly enlightened either. “Even some”? of the people would be willing to stand behind the Constitution?

Who would stop Obama from trying to stay in office? Obama mostly. Then Obama’s wife, and his kids, and his psychiatrist. Then the rest of the Democratic party.

Seriously, what do they think would happen? Would the entire DC bureaucracy not start reporting to the new president just because a recalitrant Obama refuses to leave the White House? He might be able to get some of the Cabinet and personal staff to play along, but anyone at the top levels of the government has been through changes in the administration before – their loyalty is to their department, not the president. It’s not as if there is any ambiguity in the Constitution on this.

I’m pretty sure PBO’s scheming and plotting day and night to get that third term, which will guarantee four more years of death threats, blatant racism, disrespect, and constant obstructionism. What rational person wouldn’t jump at that splendid opportunity?

Anyone know of a good website that let’s you bet on anything? Because I’ve been thinking about placing a bet that Obama will leave office on January 20, 2017, just to see how many dopes bet against me.
