Rhodes Doubles Down on McCain Treason Comments

Stewart Rhodes is defending his shocking statement that Sen. John McCain should be put to death by hanging for treason, telling a local TV station that he stands by his statement because McCain is “every bit as nuts as Adolf Hitler was.”

Ugh, you’re making me sympathize with that resentful prima donna, John McCain.

Can we start a movement to end the abuse of godwin’s law? The comparsions made by the far right are getting more stupid and illogical by the day.

    Seriously WTF?

A US POW who fought and won a number of democratic elections and campaigns, who fought for his country and ran for President as the official Republicna candidate is meant to be a “traitor” and as “nuts” as a genocidal tyrant who murdered six million people and more in a mad quest to dominate the entire world by brute force?

Picking Sarah Palin as his running mate was arguably a crazy decision (in the colloquial sense o the word) but really that – and not knowing the difference between an overhead projector and the Adler planetarium is as “nuts” (in the colloq) as Senator McCain gets.

I’ve no great love for McCain but .. this, really Dafuck?

Someone is certainly mad (i’th’colloq!) and failing Godwin’s Law here. Who is Stewart Rhodes and who the fuck stilll listens to him – and WHY – now anyhow? Who the fuck is cheering that?

Hitler comparisons are always automatically unhinged. With possible rare exceptions, if you’re really determined to compare and contrast the death of unspecified millions of kulaks with the death of six million Jews, not to mention other WWII dead.

That said, a Presidential candidate who gets on the stump and sings “Bomb Bomb Bomb, Bomb Bomb Iran,” is an unhinged genocidal (or at least mass-murdering) freak. So forgive me if my defense of McCain is going to be extremely tepid. The best thing that can be said about him is that he has never actually committed mass murder, owing mainly to lack of opportunity.

Do you know who else started a movement to end the abuse of Godwin’s law? Hitler!

So Stewart – by your logic…

Would you prefer hanging at dawn or dusk?

    PS:

    Article III. Section 3.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.”

Nope — nothing in there about ‘being nuts as Hitler’ or any other person, real or imagined.

Former U.S. Army paratrooper Stewart Rhodes founded Oath Keepers in 2009. In a speech on this year’s Patriot’s Day, Rhodes quoted from the Irish song “The Patriot Game.” I don’t think he knows what that song is really saying.

I’m glad that the local news realizes that the real story here isn’t some asshole no one cares about calling for McCain’s hanging, it’s the President of the Arizona State Senate attending the event, sitting right there listening to it, and presumably nodding along.
