Savage: Pope Francis is a Commie! And the Antichrist, or Something.

Michael Savage had his usual thoughtful response to something, this time to Pope Francis’ encyclical about the need to prevent global warming in order to save lives and avoid all manner of negative results. That makes him, of course, a Marxist. And the precursor to the Antichrist, or the Antichrist, or whatever.

“The Pope is a Marxist,” Savage said. “He is a wolf in pope’s clothing, he is an eco-wolf in pope’s clothing, he’s a stealth Marxist in religious garb.”

Savage continued that Francis “sounds just like the false prophet in Revelation, an ecumenical spiritual figure directing mankind to worship the Antichrist.”

“I think it is up to the Catholic people to turn their backs on this Pope before it is too late, before they wake up and find out that they are in chains, this man is a Marxist through-and-through,” Savage said, claiming that he was “picked by the New World Order the way Obama was.”

We’ll add him to the long list of people over the last 2000 years who have “sounded just like” one of the many mythical people involved with the Antichrist, or the Antichrist themselves. The funny thing is that Savage has said many times that he isn’t even a religious guy. He believes in all manner of new agey woo when it comes to food and homeopathy and all that rot, but while he was born into a Jewish family, he apparently does not practice, nor is he a Christian by all indication. Yet he happily spouts the kind of things he knows his Christian right audience eats up with a spoon.

"Wharton should refund his tuition since he learned nothing while he was there."

Sooo Weiner – if the Pope is a Marxist AND the Antichrist — does that make the ‘christ’ you worship a fascist?

“Yet he happily spouts the kind of things he knows his Christian right audience his Christian right audience eats up with a spoon.”

Presumably, his audience have people to help them guide spoon to mouth.

  • Artor

Yes, Savage’s audience eats that shit up with a spoon, because that’s the only implement they’re allowed to have.

  • D. C. Sessions

No spoons required. The majority now get it by IV, with some on central lines.

Luckily Medicare covers it, leaving more of their Social Security check left over to fight Socialism.

To a certain type of Protestant, every pope is the Antichrist.

  • busterggi

Now, now, let’s not charge Michael with loving new-age woo. He’s also a dedicated follower of Velicovsky who predates new-age crap.

Actually, if you study early Christianity at all, it was pretty close to socialism, at the least. Marxist, though — no: none of this centralized control crap.

  • garnetstar

Since the pope’s a Marxist, soon we can expect that all of that art will be owned by the people.

I’d like to put in a request for Michelangelo’s Pieta, please. Just have them deliver and install it in my front yard.

When that happens, Michael Savage, give me a call. Until then, STFU.

I’m sad that he didn’t bring up him being a Jesuit and the black pope conspiracy that a bunch of Protestants and some conservative Catholics believe in. (TL;DR the leader of the Jesuits wears black robes and there is a conspiracy that he’s actually the guy in charge.)

Politically Jesuits tend to be more to the left, so I have literally no clue why this really surprises anyone.

    Not technically a citation:

One of the “things” going around is the “fact” that Francis is destined by “prophecy” that he would be the last pope. Which, either immeasurably excites the “Christians” who believe in such things — because it means the End of the World. Or frightens them to the same degree and for the same reason.

I’m presuming the Pope-Francis-is-a-commie crowd are so incensed at the climate change encyclical that they haven’t yet seen through the raging red mist to discern his comments on arms manufacturers … and investors.

Using a word like ‘hypocrite’ will get quite a few froth-filled diatribes onto the airwaves soon enough I suppose.

    Re busterggi @ #6

Citation needed. Google seems to yield nothing connecting these two nutcases.

@12 About all I know about Savage’s pre-radio days is he studied herbal medicine. I want to say he has a PhD in it. It’s really a crank field though. I have no idea how this could be connected to Velikovsky.

    @ Abdul #5

Many Protestants that I have known are shocked to discover that the movement was founded by a Catholic priest.
