Geraldo, Bolling Almost Came to Blows on Fox News

Oh, this is rather delicious to watch. Geraldo Rivera and Eric Bolling of Fox News almost went toe-to-toe, mano-a-mano, after Bolling accused Rivera of sensationalizing everything. Which is true, of course. Ask Al Capone. How much fun would it have been to see these two lunkheads fight on national television?

Fox host Geraldo Rivera’s argument with colleague Eric Bolling took a personal turn on Monday after Rivera accused Bolling and co-host Jesse Watters of exploiting the death of Kate Steinle to defend Donald Trump, Media Matters reported.

“It is exploiting and sensationalizing –” Rivera said before Bolling cut him off.

“From a guy who exploits and sensationalizes everything,” Bolling retorted.

“Are you talking to me?” Rivera shot back. “You’re lucky that you’re my friend. I’d knock you out right now. That’s absolute BS.”

“Well, we can take this up later,” Bolling said, as Rivera fumed again that it was “absolute bogus BS.”

“I exploit and sensationalize?” Rivera asked him. “What do you do? Where do you get your stuff from? What right-wing pundit has given you your script?”

Uh, yes, Geraldo, you exploit and sensationalize. It’s the only reason you have a career. And yes, Bolling mindlessly repeats right wing talking points. You’re both right. Now please fight one another. I’d buy the pay-per-view for that one.

    “I see you, Mr. Pot!”

“Pleased to meet you, Mr. Kettle!”

Geraldo Rivera aka Gerald Rivers should have thrown a party for O. J. Simpson. His career was just about flushed down the toilet when, because of his experience as a prosecutor in a previous life, he was hired by MSNBC to anchor a program commenting on the Simpson trial. It resurrected his career from the dumpster.

Sure, they’re so-called “exploiting” Kate Steinle to defend Trump’s so-called “Nativism”, but even if there was no Trump they’d still be so-called “exploiting” her death to attack Obama’s so-called “presidency”.

Look, I think we can all agree that as long as any illegals do anything illegal, we shouldn’t allow any illegals to stay here illegally, no matter how many murders the rest of them don’t commit.

If they promise to do the fight Thunderdome style we are guaranteed to get rid of one of them; I’ll commit $200 to that shit.

    Mutual Assured Dumbassery.

Not being a fox viewer, I never knew Geraldo was a thing any more. I assumed he’d passed into legend and then, into myth and was now the subject of fireside tales at summer camps for horny teenagers.

Old hucksters never die. They just move to Fox News.

While it would be highly amusing it wouldn’t be much of a fight … two middle-aged guys rolling on the floor scratching and hair pulling and biting. Not exactly Ali-Frazier.

And despite all his talk about “red-blooded Americans,” I bet Bolling would wind up whimpering.

The highlight of the exchange for me happens around the 1:35 mark where the not-Bolling cliche-machine responds to the charge of exploiting Kate Steinle’s death with “You’re exploiting it by downplaying it”. What the fucking fuck?

Really, he said that, nay, got PAID to say that. Everyone should keep this handy for the next time some GOPer denies that they use the I’m-rubber-you’re-glue technique on everything. “You’re the racist!” “You’re exploiting it!” Dumb and dumber.

“You’re exploiting it by downplaying it.”

Just downplaying it is weak-sister exploitation. The really effective way to exploit it is not to mention it at all.

Imagine how effectively Fox News could exploit its audience if it was off the air…

OT: “Towns that used to vie for factories now vie for prisons.”

    – Don Winslow, speaking to NPR’s Terry Gross today on the futility of the War on Drugs.

He took out an ad in the New York Times asking members of Congress to end the War on Drugs. He hasn’t heard from any member of Congress. However, he has heard from about 50 cops. They told him — off the record — that the war is a waste of time and keeps them from real police work. One said, “They cut my community policing funds by 50 percent, but they gave me a tank.”

The cherry on top is when the lady presenter, no idea who she is, cuts to a bowflex commercial, it would have been better if it had of been a boner pill commercial but hey I’ll take it. Also do presenters commonly know what commercials will be shown in the break?

Like others, I am a bit surprised Geraldo Rivera is still around. I’d assumed he’d stuck his head so far up his arse he could see out of his own earhole.

@13: Hey, he’s a tough guy! He brought a gun along as a journalist in W’s war.

Geraldo is small and wiry, he would make an excellent commando. Just shape a granade like a microphone and tell him to interview the head hancho in that enemy encampment over there.

It is what jeebus would do….apparently!

A couple of decades from now, this is what a Geraldo – Bolling death match will look like.
