There’s a new filing by the Mueller team in the case against Paul Manafort and it answers the charge that he’s being kept in solitary confinement as some sort of punishment. Turns out he’s actually getting, by his own description, “VIP treatment.” That includes his own private unit with bathroom and shower and full access to all of his files. And a phone in his cell.
This isn’t solitary confinement as punishment, it’s special privileges that are not available to the average inmate. I’m quite sure the other inmates don’t get their own phones in their cells, or a cell with its own shower. And the fact that he’s allowed to use a laptop after a judge determined that he had tampered with witnesses is rather surprising. He’s being pampered, not punished.
